Our GNC (Guidance, Navigation, and Control) Engineers design, develop, implement, verify and test algorithms and software and simulation tools to perform guidance, navigation and control of missiles, launch vehicles and upper stages powered and coast phases of launch, flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well as during staging events.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
Your mission, should you choose to accept:
In this role, you will be responsible for GNC modeling, simulation, and analysis, as well as Scrum Master duties, such as facilitating stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and improving Agile practices within the development lifecycle.
Design, develop, implement, verify, and test high‑quality software and simulation toolchains for flight systems.
Develop and integrate autopilot and guidance algorithms directly into flight software, collaborating with software and hardware teams.
Generate, analyze, and interpret vehicle trajectories using trajectory‑optimization tools.
Modify or create new scripts (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Bash) to capture customer requirements and evaluate vehicle performance.
Build, validate, and maintain accurate modeling and simulation frameworks for aerospace systems and components.
Enhance simulation fidelity by applying advanced modeling techniques to support analysis and decision‑making.
Conduct rigorous testing to identify and resolve discrepancies between simulation and real-world performance metrics.
Gather, process, and analyze large data sets to verify and validate system performance results.
Ensure simulation outputs align with system specifications and performance targets.

The Staff Physicist supports program analyses and testing of Ionizing radiation effects on electronics systems. Examples include x-ray and/or electromagnetic radiation. Will utilize computational tools for modeling and predicting the effects. May also support technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for analyzed systems.
**Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities**
+ Conducts research into phases of atomic and molecular, nuclear, solid state, thermal, and other physical phenomena. Develops theories and laws based on observed results of experiments and predicts phenomena based on theoretical considerations in areas of application such as acoustics, electricity and magnetism, electronics, heat, light, mechanics, radiation, optics, and lasers.
+ Working to identify susceptible piece-parts in a given system to varying ionizing radiation effects (total ionizing dose, prompt dose-rate, neutron degradation damage, and single event effects from protons, heavy-ions, and neutrons) based on part type (e.g. microprocessor, capacitor, etc) and part technology (e.g. CMOS, bipolar, etc).
+ Perform test/response data research on identified susceptible piece-parts or parts of similar type/technology to determine where testing is or is not needed given a program's specific radiation requirements.
+ Identify susceptible piece-parts in a given system to varying ionizing radiation effects (total ionizing dose, prompt dose-rate, neutron degradation damage, and single event effects from protons, heavy-ions, and neutrons) based on part type (e.g. microprocessor, capacitor, etc) and part technology (e.g. CMOS, bipolar, etc). Should be familiar with device fabrication processes, technologies, and susceptibilities associated with said ionizing radiation forms.
+ Perform ionizing radiation testing on electronic piece parts using flash x-ray, cyclotrons, linear accelerators (LINAC), Co-60 and neutron sources. Design and/or develop test fixtures for individual device testing. Perform device characterization in-situ or on specialized device test fixturing.
+ Ability to prepare test plans and procedures for EEE parts testing in ionizing radiation environments (candidates preferentially sought for dose rate, SEE and neutron environments, with secondary for total dose environments).
+ Design and/or develop test fixtures and software for individual device testing. Perform device characterization in-situ or on specialized device test fixturing. Experienced In hardware and software debugging
+ Perform transport analysis of ionizing radiation (including x-ray, proton, neutron, heavy ion) through materials to determine transported radiation environment/spectra; experience with NOVICE, MCNP/Atilla, SRIM/TRIM and THTk is preferred.
+ Perform device and system calculations on expected upset rates given device SEE characteristics (Weibull, Bendel, step function) and trajectory or orbit parameters; experience with CREME96, OMERE, and SIRE2 is preferred.
+ Perform data analysis (including statistical analysis) and part level SEECA (single event effects criticality analysis).
+ Design and implement mitigation techniques at the piece-part/circuit card/box level for ionizing radiation effects including photocurrent management, circumvention strategies and event detection/state management/recovery, and SEE functional and catastrophic failure modes..
**Basic Qualifications**

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components, subject to the applicable Cisco plan. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
+ .75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
+ 1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
+ 1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and
+ Once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay 0% up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is looking for a Seeker Modeling and Simulations Engineer to support the Launch Vehicles business unit in Chandler, Arizona.
The Seeker Modeling and Simulations Engineer, as part of the Seeker IPT, will utilize their expertise to design, develop, verify, and implement Image Processing algorithms, simulation tools, and physics based models in support of high fidelity simulation. The team is responsible for the development of the design, integration, and testing of development/flight hardware, evaluating seeker performance in relation to algorithms, building/maintaining the seeker test suite, and leveraging physics-based models for algorithm and simulation development (including high-fidelity simulation 6DOF). The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with significantly diverse assignments and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Responsibilities:
Develop high-fidelity simulations and models for seeker design, performance assessment, and flight test support
Design and implement modeling solutions, conduct trade studies and evaluation of system and subsystem performance
Apply EO phenomenology and advanced physics concepts in a software implementations to mirror real hardware systems
Research and develop novel EO modeling techniques
Collaborate with Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) personnel and other departments to perform simulation activities
Provide technical expertise for GPI simulation and modeling products both internally and externally
Work in a team environment specific to modelling & simulation and supporting additional, varied program efforts
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of experience.
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
Experience with image and signal processing techniques
Expertise physical optical systems simulations and scene generation
Experience applying object-oriented software design, programming in C or C++, and MATLAB or Python.
Knowledge of Electro-Optics (EO), EO/IR imaging systems, and radiometric transfer principles
Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) environments
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Degree in Optical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (image processing focus), Physics, or Software preferred
Experience with missile systems or hypersonic missile systems and associated standards
Previous experience with DOD missile defense programs
Experience in video/image processing algorithms such as background/noise estimation, target detection, false alarm rejection, radiometric estimation, search/object localization, and sensor control
Familiarity with hardware/software integration and modeling physics-based or real-time systems
Proficiency in software change management tools, processes, and real-time programming.
Highly proficient in C/C++ development and Linux environment
High proficiency in MATLAB and Python toolchains
Experience with discrimination algorithms
Experience using MSLRAD scene generator
Experience restructuring algorithms to improve run time on HPCs
Familiarity with Software and Firmware development processes
