Prepares food for patients, retail outlets, catering, doctor's lounge etc. * Prepares various types of hot foods, baked items, sandwiches, and other short order items following production sheets and approved recipes, and prepares modified diet foods for all outlets. * Performs various types of cooking and baking operations using such standard kitchen equipment as stoves, ovens, broilers, and microwave ovens. * Ensures that food is prepared using proper quality control (HACCP) and sanitation standards, and in sufficient quantities to minimize waste. * Distributes food to appropriate locations. * Ability to work well independently given proper directions. * Cleans and maintains standard kitchen equipment used in food preparation. * Ensures that food preparation area is properly cleaned and sanitized. * Ensures that leftover foods are properly labeled dated and stored properly. Completes food temperature checks utilizing taste and temperature logs. * Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury-accident to Manager. REQUIRED * One year food service experience. * Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions. PREFERRED * Demonstrated knowledge of common diet modifications. * One (1) year experience as a Cook in Hospital Food Service or restaurant * ServSafe certification preferred.
