Job Responsibility
Prepares patients for hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) treatments and documents treatments in patient care record.
Operates the hyperbaric chamber according to manufacturer guidelines and established regulations.
Takes and records vital signs and/or growth measurements; draws blood; administers EKGs and assists clinical staff with examination and treatment as needed.
Cleans HBO chambers and maintains the orderliness and cleanliness of treatment rooms.
Performs Transcutaneous Oxygen Monitoring; monitors vital signs and patient response during HBO treatments.
Participates in patient education as it relates to hyperbaric therapy.
Participates in quality assurance programs and supports clinical hyperbaric facility accreditation.
Maintains daily and periodic equipment maintenance documentation.
Transports patients to and from the department.

Job Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Current Hyperbaric Technician (NBDHMT) Certification required, and Current Basic Life Support Professional Certification required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
1-3 years of technical experience, required.

Required Certifications or Licensures:
Interventional Radiology:
Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT-R) is required. New graduates must obtain primary certification prior to the start date. Advanced certification of ARRT-VI, ARRT-CI, and/or ARRT-CV must be obtained within two (2) years of hire date.
Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps required for advancing to level 2, including advanced certification, within 24 months of hire.
Cardiology:
Graduate from an accredited cardiovascular technology specialty training program or Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT). Advanced certification of Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) must be obtained within two (2) years of date of hire.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months of date of hire.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months of date of hire (Geisinger Medical Center campus only).
Education
Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology (Required), Bachelor's Degree-Related Field of Study (Preferred)
Experience
Minimum of 1 year-Related work experience (Preferred)
Certification(s) and License(s)

Participates in quality assurance programs and supports clinical hyperbaric facility accreditation.
Maintains daily and periodic equipment maintenance documentation.
