Northwell Midwifery at Huntington is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife/Certified Midwife who is passionately interested in pursuing a full scope midwifery position. This unique position encompasses sessions in our community office settings where we provide obstetrical and gynecological care for women throughout their life cycles including pregnancy. It is our continued goal to integrate the midwife model into our Women and Children/Perinatal Service. In addition to attending our triages and deliveries at our Magnet Hospital in Huntington, responsibilities also include sharing our 24/7 midwife coverage. Our midwife service also affords the opportunity to participate in research and in the education of Residents, PA, NP, and Midwife Students. The nurses in our Progressive Critical Care Unit care for some of the most medically delicate and surgically complex patients in our region. Common conditions include respiratory failure, sepsis, closed head injuries, multi-system organ dysfunction, endocrine disorders, complex traumas, and surgical complications. Candidates must be competent in the care of medical and surgical populations, ACLS, and advanced hemodynamics including pressor usage per our titration protocols. Responsibilities Administer antihypertensive drips, sedative and narcan drips, and thrombo-embolytics. Manage a line, CVP, EVD, and ortho traction. Implement infection prevention protocols, including HFNC, BiPap/Cpap, and oxypendent care. Monitor and manage an average patient load of 3 high acuity patients. Department/Unit: Trauma/Surgery Department Work Shift: Day (United States of America) Salary Range: $71,612.39 - $110,999.20The Trauma Performance Improvement (PI) Coordinator fulfills an essential function and is dedicated to the Trauma Service at Albany Medical Center (AMC) in accordance with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) standards for both the adult and pediatric trauma program. This individual works in collaboration with the trauma program leadership and is responsible for the coordination and facilitation of the trauma performance improvement process. The Trauma PI Coordinator collects and analyzes benchmarking data, focus studies and clinical indicators. They use advanced skills in quality assessment to perform comprehensive quality of care and service audits to facilitate the development of valid standards and tools. The Trauma PI Coordinator ensures loop closure, prepares reports, presents outcomes and participates in organizational-wide continuous improvement projects as it relates to the trauma program. He/she is self-motivated and a team player. This individual demonstrates accuracy and confidentiality in the handling of all trauma-related matters. Most important the person in this position can conduct quantitative data analysis in reporting (metrics) as well as the qualitative. This position needs to be continually challenging the Trauma program (Pediatric and Adult) and Trauma Teams to look at data; drawing them to metrics that measure care and outcomes and driving to results (PDCA) on safety and quality improvement. Due to the ratio of adult vs. pediatric patients, approximately 90% of the time should be focused on the adult population and 10% on pediatrics. Department/Unit: Neurosciences & Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) - D5N Work Shift: Day (United States of America) Salary Range: $88,192.00 - $136,697.60 The clinical Nurse contributes to the creation of a compassionate and caring environment for patients, families and colleagues through displays of kindness and active listening. Recognizes and appreciates that each employee's work is valuable and contributes to the success of the Mission. D5N is a 21 bed neurosciences unit with one level of care. We take patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, brain tumors, aneurysms, seizures, traumatic brain injuries, neuromuscular diseases and other diagnoses involving the neurologic system. The floor beds consist of patients requiring every 4-hour monitoring. Additionally, there are 7 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) beds embedded in the 21 neuro floor beds. These patients are seizure disorder patients admitted electively with their anti-convulsant medications on hold and hard wired to continuous EEG. This allows the physicians to identify the area of the brain where the seizures are occurring. Many of these patients become candidates for brain mapping with surgically placed grids to further pinpoint the area causing the seizures. This mapping allows the surgeon to determine if the patient would be a candidate for surgical removal of parts of the brain to stop seizure activity and still allow the patient to have functionality. The nurse-to-patient ratio for floor patients is typically 1:5. Department/Unit: ICU-Surgical And Neuroscience - B2 Work Shift: Night (United States of America) Salary Range: $83,200.00 - $93,184.00This is not a new grad position. Applicants must have 2+ years of med/surg, progressive care or ICU experience. The Surgical and Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (SICU and Neuro ICU) has a combined total of 30 intensive care beds designed to provide specialized care to the critically ill adult (14 and older) patient. The unit has a usual 50/50 split of patient population between the neuro and surgical patient population. The focus of care is includes patients with life-threatening conditions related to major elective and emergency surgical procedures, multi-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, stroke, seizure, sepsis/multi-organ system failure, hemodynamic instability and failure to wean. The SICU and Neuro ICU patient needs encompass but are not limited to comprehensive physical assessments, intensive monitoring, treatment of laboratory values, ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring. SICU-Neuro ICU nurses require the following skill set - ICP monitoring via EVD or bolt, spinal drains/catheters, brain oxygen monitoring, Artic Sun therapy, continuous EEG, intra-arterial catheter, non-invasive cardiac output, mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy, reconstructive flap monitoring, and massive blood transfusion among others. Nursing will support the following on-unit procedures including placement of arterial lines, central lines, external ventricular drains and ICP monitors, SEPS drains, bedside bronchoscopy, abdominal washouts, tracheostomy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placement, lumbar punctures, chest tubes, pigtail drains and others.
