This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, phlebotomy position located at a client site in Marion, IL.
Must be able to work Monday through Friday 7:30am - 4pm.

The Phlebotomist provides expert phlebotomy services and must demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills. The phlebotomist must have the ability to function as part of a highly effective team that consistently puts "Patients First".
The Phlebotomist is responsible for venipuncture collection and specimen processing. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to order entry in multiple systems, verification of test result receipt, patient information retrieval and lab reception/clerical duties and functions.
Responsibilities:
* Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age related standards and in accordance with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
* Demonstrates AIDET model and optimizes patient safety to reduce the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
* Receives and reviews physician orders; ensures that all necessary information is included for appropriate lab services. Enters accurate orders for lab tests in accordance with department policies, protocols and procedures.
* patient communication model and provides appropriate post-phlebotomy patient care.
* Processes specimens in a timely manner to ensure stability and integrity of samples including: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and packaging specimens for transport in accordance with established protocols and policies.
* Reviews/Records refrigerator temperature(s) and QC/QA records. Areas of concern are recorded through the Corrective Action Log and reported to maintenance for repair. Findings are reported to supervisor or manager.
* Understands the operation and maintenance of equipment pertinent to the job. Follows up with all outstanding orders on manifest log, and communicates all timed, completed or uncompleted draws/charges/results as appropriate
* Communicates and notifies Laboratory and/or Physician of problems with specimen procurement for optimal care
* Maintains a safe work environment, holds self-accountable for safe work practices; including adhering to biohazard waste procedures and ensuring proper storage and timely pickup of biohazardous waste.
* Performs lab-related clerical duties include but not limited to order entry, verification of test result receipt, patient information retrieval as well as utilization of email, medical record systems, handheld and desktop devices, ordering and maintaining supply inventory, filing and sanitizing equipment as necessary
* Uses department's resources efficiently; participates in efforts to reduce costs and streamline work processes.
* Adheres to continuing education expectations; completes and signs-off on competency assessments

Qualifications
Required:
* High School diploma or equivalent.
* Phlebotomy certification through a nationally recognized organization or training from a phlebotomy school or medical institution or one or more years of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting or CMA certification.
Preferred:
* Experience performing phlebotomy on a broad range of patient's types.
* Experience with processing lab specimens, transferring specimens, and handling a centrifuge.
* Familiar with medical EMR systems.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduate of a two or four-year AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program with RRT credentials.
Demonstrated knowledge of the growth and developmental needs of adolescent, adult, and older adult/geriatric client populations and the necessary clinical and technical skills to provide care for medically complex clients with chronic illnesses and physical disabilities. Assumes charge therapist responsibilities in the absence of a Lead Therapist.
Currently licensed to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Ohio. BLS required, ACLS desired.
Minimum Required: 3 - 5 Years equivalent experience
Preferred: 6 - 10 Years equivalent experience
Expected starting salary range for this position is between $28.69/hr. - $35.47/hr.

Reviews and updates information regarding wellness topics such as nutrition, preventative services, and exercise to promote good health habits and increase patient compliance with the health care plan.
Implements and maintains a reference library of breastfeeding materials appropriate for both health-care providers and mothers interested in learning more about lactation.
Responsible for maintaining and updating files, in appropriate locations, of journal articles and obtaining references works that include the latest information on lactation in a variety of contexts and circumstances.
Develops or obtains suitable educational materials to facilitate patient understanding of content.

Major Responsibilities
Directs, plans, and manages the development and implementation of clinical nutrition and operational quality standards for both inpatient and/or outpatient nutrition services. Develops site-based nutrition Quality Assessment Performance Improvement (QAPI) efforts to ensure nutrition care is safe and effective for patients. Develops and implements action plans for any quality indicator not meeting goal.
Ensures department clinical standards comply with safety initiatives, policies, procedures, DNV regulations, and department standards and/or local health department regulations. Plans, directs and supervises the development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of a comprehensive nutrition-focused Continuous Quality Improvement program.
Assists in hiring and onboarding a skilled clinical nutrition staff capable of providing essential nutrition care to patients, in compliance with the standards set by the department, hospital, DNV and other regulatory agencies. Annually evaluates competency of clinical dietitians per system-established competency standards. Provides training and feedback to clinical dietitians and other Food and Nutrition teammates, as applicable. Provides input on performance reviews.
Oversees and participates in ongoing Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) care for entire hospital inpatient census, through screening, prioritizing, assessing, and recommending interventions. Maximizes efficiencies of clinical nutrition team to balance workloads due to fluctuations in census, consults, acuity, staffing challenges.
Ensures competency of clinical nutrition team to perform Nutrition Focused Physical Examinations of high-risk patients to evaluate the loss of specific muscles and subcutaneous body fat to determine the presence of and degree of malnutrition to improve patient outcomes and to positively impact inpatient readmission rates.
Coordinates site didactic internship program with approved partners. Schedules and onboards dietetic interns. Completes evaluations and provides coaching to internship participants. Ensures internship experience provided by the site meets or exceeds clinical competencies as set forth by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). Communicates regularly with didactic program coordinator to provide feedback on intern performance.
Reviews and revises clinical nutrition policies and standard works to ensure that they are consistent with current practices. Updates electronic document system to reflect all changes in a timely manner.

* Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments and develop personalized care plans
* Educate patients and families on dietary interventions and symptom-related modifications
