What You'd Be Doing
Review, understand, develop and check Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's) ortho-graphics, isometrics, bill of materials, line lists, valve lists, and tie-in lists for piping design projects (with limited supervision by senior engineers.) Familiarity with piping design in process environments is preferred.
Ability to complete mechanical engineering calculations with limited supervision by senior engineers. Calculations include:
Hydraulic calculations to size pumps and piping, determine NPSH, etc.
Heat loss calculations for piping, tanks, and other equipment.
Simple structural beam calculations for pipe supports, etc.
Understand pumping, piping, air and liquid flow and distribution systems.
Application of relevant codes such as:
ASME B31.3, B31.4
API 650, 653 and other related standards.
NFPA 11, 30 and other related standards.
Perform pipe stress analysis using Caesar II software in accordance with ASME B31.3 and B31.4.
Work with senior engineers to create capital project cost estimates and schedules.
Develop mechanical engineering documents according to industry, project and company standard, while working with other engineers and designers; including P&ID's, general arrangements, equipment installation details, tank data sheets, Tie-in Procedures, and piping design. Take ownership and responsibility of items within their scope.
Prepare technical specifications for review and approval.
Evaluate vendor's bids and drawings to ensure compliance with specifications and requirements of the project.
Work with vendors to obtain quotes and data sheets for various equipment (control valves, pumps, instrumentation, tank, heat exchangers, etc.) Work with senior engineers to review and specify the appropriate equipment.
Ability to effectively interact on a basic technical level with other engineering disciplines and understand how their work impacts the overall project. Regular contact is expected with other disciplines (at least weekly by phone or in-person).
Ability to review electrical, civil and structural drawings to check for interferences with the mechanical drawings.
What Makes You a Good Candidate for This Position
2-8 years experience in the completion of projects for industrial clients. Prefer experience in project development from concept through completion.
BSME or BSChemE required.
Engineer in Training (EIT) registration desired. Must be working towards or willing to obtain PE.
Experience in the design of industrial piping systems and equipment layouts is a plus.
Experience in the development and review of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) is required.
Experience with specifying heavy industrial equipment like pumps, tanks, valves, and instruments is desired.
Ability to travel throughout the Western United States. Some national travel will also be required. (Travel: approximately 10 - 25%)
Strong background in a variety of engineering skills is preferred.
Strong written & oral communication skills and use of tools such as MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
Previous experience with PDF markup software such as Bluebeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat is desired.
Must be energetic, self-motivated, and be able to work independently.
Must be motivated to seek continuous improvement.
Strong leadership skills and problem resolution skills are a plus.
Ability and willingness to be the primary customer liaison on smaller projects.
Ability to work within a team of engineers & designers to meet customer objectives.
Salary Range: $85,000 to $110,000 depending on relevant experience

What You Will Be Doing
The superintendent, in partnership with the project manager, is responsible for the overall success of a construction project. Position is responsible for managing subcontractors, quality control and assurance, providing exceptional client service, leading a project team, managing project schedule and being part of making the project a good experience for everyone involved.
