Electrical Technician Intern

The team is seeking an Electrical Technician intern that can join the team for approximately 12 weeks. The person in this role will have the opportunity to participate in meaningful work and gain hands-on industry experience. The person in this role will report to the Associate EMRA Leader and will gain experience in Electrical Technology in a manufacturing environment.

Shadow and assist qualified electricians performing the following:
Use specialized measuring and diagnostic devices to evaluate equipment
Inspect for problems
Work with wires using hand tools while handling small components
Repair and replace defective components in motors, generators, controllers, storage batteries, switchboards, conductors, switches and varied electrical fixtures
Install, maintain and repair electrical, electromechanical, and electronic parts of machinery and equipment
Perform defensive repair and preservation of field, plant and shop for electronic and electrical systems, equipment, and devices
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams
Plan and prepare work orders or instructions utilizing blueprints, sketches, and drawings
Receive training in electrical safety and other electrical/maintenance duties
Qualifications
Enrolled in an accredited 2-year Electrical Technology program
Interested in gaining hands-on industry experience prior to graduation
Effective interpersonal and communication skills which are essential for interacting with all levels of the organization
Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer

Learn about industrial machinery, mechanical power transmission systems, and pumping systems.

What you'll do:
Packaging Technicians are responsible for the safe operation of chemical processing & packaging equipment. Technicians use knowledge of process and operating procedures to control, monitor, and troubleshoot equipment used to package goods into containers. PURPOSE

Position Overview:
Novelis in Davenport, IA has an opportunity to participate in our on-site summer 2026 internship. The team is seeking a Process Engineering Intern that can join the team for approximately 12 weeks. The person in this role will have the opportunity to participate in relevant work and gain hands on industry experience. The intern will report to the Process Engineering Leader and will gain experience with our local Process Engineering Team.
Responsibilities:
Work with process engineers and quality techs to resolve customer complaints, qualify new customers, and develop processes at a new (greenfield) site.
Support Process engineers in DOE (design of experiment) improvement projects.
Learn about sustainability, quality, customer satisfaction and implement knowledge by sharing with operations.
Perform internal audits of machine centers to drive facility towards continuous multi-functional mentality.
Work in multi-functional groups to support engineering, maintenance, reliability, and automation as we all support the needs of operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Enrolled in an accredited 4-year University.
Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or recent Graduate.
Majoring in Industrial, Manufacturing, Production, or Mechanical Engineering
Interested in gaining hands-on industry experience prior to graduation.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills which are essential for interacting with all levels of the organization.
Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Lean and Continuous Improvement
Experience with AutoCAD
Understanding of heat-treating aluminum
Hands on industry experience (previously held an internship)

What You'll Do
Strategy and Leadership: Develop and implement regional HSE strategies aligned with organizational goals, while also championing a proactive safety culture.
Team Management: Manage, mentor, and develop direct reports, such as site-based HSE professionals or safety supervisors, to build internal HSE competence.
Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (like OSHA and EPA) across all sites. Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify and mitigate hazards.
Program Development: Create, implement, and manage regional HSE programs, policies, and procedures. This includes developing training programs for employees at all levels.
Continuous Improvement: Lead HSE continual improvement to minimize risk and improve workers' safety and efficiency. This includes conducting data driven risk assessments identifying improvement areas and working with engineering and management to source and implement newer safe controls.
Incident Management: Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
Reporting and Analysis: Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics (KPIs) to regional and executive leadership, using data to justify resource allocation for safety improvements.
External Relations: Act as a primary contact for regulatory agencies during inspections and for communicating with them about safety issues.
Travel will be required between facilities (25%)
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; preferred in Occupational Safety or Engineering
Five years' experience in people management, including leadership and delegation, within a matrix organization is preferred.
Strong oral and written communication skills, including excellent presentation skills.
Strong analytical skills, along with effective organizational and time management skills.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and HS&E system expertise.
Manufacturing facility background is preferred.

Work Arrangement: Onsite
Pay Range: $110,000 - $128,000 Annually
Bonus Eligible: This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
