Responsibilities & Qualifications The Novelis Terre Haute team is seeking an Operations Leader. This position is responsible for planning and directing all Operational functions for areas of the manufacturing unit to ensure all necessary resources are available and used to drive continuous improvement of the Terre Haute Manufacturing Framework - Working Safe, Satisfying the Customer, Making the Plan and Working Together. The Operations Leader participates as a member of the management staff reporting directly to the Plant Manager; contributing to the achievement of plant and corporate strategic objectives while meeting the Manufacturing Unit Teams internal and external customer requirements. The incumbent will be required to actively support and encourage Lean activities, striving to exceed previous best performances to achieve excellence. Responsibilities: Ensure all Manufacturing Unit activities are consistent with all applicable Federal, State and local laws, EHS certifications, as well as Novelis policies and procedures. Ensure the Manufacturing Unit is fully supportive of the plant's Novelis Operating System process and facilitate continued integration of the Novelis Operating System in the manufacturing process. Ensure effective leadership of accident/incident investigations, reporting, root cause analysis and corrective actions within the Manufacturing Unit. Drive continual improvement of employee engagement in the EHS process through the EHS Steering Committee Mentor Process Leaders in development of EHS knowledge and skills. Maintain good housekeeping and safe working conditions at all times. Ensure the Manufacturing Unit production meets the requirements of all internal and external customers and the activities support the plant's quality management system Effectively communicate customer satisfaction measurements to all members of the Manufacturing Unit. Direct utilization of all available equipment and human resources to manufacture quality products at the lowest cost consistent with meeting customer requirements. Direct, develop and train personnel to support the Manufacturing Unit that effectively and continuously strive to improve operational, reliability, technological, financial, regulatory, and organizational performance objectives. Provide leadership in the development and implementation of longer term improvement activities for the Manufacturing Unit. Develop and maintain personnel and training requirements and assist in development and implementation of training plans and crew concept development. Make recommendations relative to new equipment, metal quality, process refinements, and operating cost reductions and participates in the introduction and development of new equipment and/or new process technology. Communicate and promote positive interactions at all levels of the organization and with customers, and the ability to work with minimal supervision are vital in this position. Minimum Qualifications: University degree in an industry-related field such as Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Metallurgical Engineering, a business degree or combination of education and experience Five years experience to related metals industry equipment, design, maintenance or operation is necessary and prior supervisory experience is preferred. Knowledge of scheduling, budget development, performance measures and standards is beneficial. Excellent communication (oral and written) skills with the demonstrated ability to influence and motivate others Capable of, and comfortable, working effectively in ambiguous situations Experience managing/supervising others in dynamic manufacturing environment with demonstrated results. The Shift Specialist is the primary person responsible for plant, Shopfloor support and personnel on all shifts with special emphasis on the "off shifts" as other staff employees are not typically on site. They are a key mentor to the Shopfloor employees in all aspects of the Focus 5 targets for Safety, Customer Centricity, Operational Excellence, Environmental Footprint, People and Return on Capital Employed (ROCE). This role is key in the continued development of the Process Center and Reliability Teams at the Terre Haute Plant. Responsibilities * Act as Incident Commander in the event of any and all emergencies. * Coordinate resources and communicate as prescribed by the Emergency Preparedness Program. * Monitor the plant for potential EHS problems and insure compliance to EHS policies and plant rules. * Assist with Accident/Incident investigations and secure accident scene as needed. * Assume leadership role in handling of all serious or potentially serious accident/incident investigations. * Understand and use the Emergency Preparedness Program as needed in the plant. * Communicate to Technical, Associate Operations Leaders and Production control regarding quality related issues. * Manage inventory by assessing scrap coils and defective material on shift and communicating to the Technical department or Associate Operations Leaders for further disposition if needed. * Monitor production schedules for all process equipment and adjust schedules if necessary for maximum efficiency. * Adjust production schedules as needed based on plant planning objectives and current plant issues. * Schedule scrap coils on appropriate equipment when opportunities arise. (No-Metal downtime, etc) Inventory management. * Monitor and ensure process center crews are reacting to any vacancies which would result in equipment not running when scheduled * Monitor employee activities through ongoing personal contact throughout the shift. * Use E-logs and email to document iplant/personnel issues. * Work with the Associate Operations and Reliability Leaders to help the Process Center and Reliability Teams achieve their objectives. * Resource for any labor issues, interpret contract language, overtime requirements, upgrade situations, etc. * Observe and react to any violation of plant rules and expectations and take appropriate action as needed. * Respond to all incidents of harassment or violence requiring conflict resolution Qualifications * Understanding of manufacturing process and operations, including lean principles * Ability to assume Incident Commander in emergency situations * Computer software skills in MS Office or equivalent with ability to learn other software quickly * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Ability to facilitate and guide operating employee activities * Work with little supervision across all levels of the organization * Ability to work all shifts any day of the week Preferred Qualifications * BS or Associates Degree in Manufacturing Technology or equivalent * Industrial experience with leadership experience What We Offer: Novelis' benefits say a lot about how we care for each other. Responsibilities & Qualifications The EHS team, located in Terre Haute, IN, is seeking an EHS Specialist. This role will report to the EHS Leader and is primarily accountable for all aspects of environmental management and sustainability at our aluminum Rolling and Finishing operations. This role will also support all general EHS programs, policies, and activities at the facility. The EHS Specialist holds the primary supporting role to the plant for performing the considerable detailed work required to and manage the ISO14001 Environmental Management System (EMS). The incumbent will be responsible for preparation, submission and recordkeeping of environmental reports to corporate, local, state, and federal agencies, and works with consultants on various environmental issues that may arise. Additionally, the incumbent will be involved in the operation's EHS philosophies, culture, and team concepts as it relates to the management of the facility and, in particular, control plan development and environmental program aspects and implementation. The incumbent must be abreast of constantly changing environmental, health and safety regulations to ensure plant compliance and to achieve acceptable standards. This position will work closely with the EHS Leader and Staff to ensure uniform application of policies and practices. Responsibilities: * Manage and continuously improve environmental compliance and sustainability at the Terre Hate facility * Support the EHS Leader and plant operation in other EHS programs, including but not limited to, safety, security, and health. * Align Terre Haute environmental and sustainability programs and efforts with Novelis performance standards. * Primary representative for the site's ISO 14001 environmental management system * Plan strategically to drive continual improvement and set direction for the site environmental and sustainability programs * Provide environmental support for capital and expense projects, including regulatory permitting * Develop and submit environmental reports and permits to governmental agencies * Liaison to Federal and State (IN) environmental agencies * Provide guidance and technical support for onsite pollution prevention measures * Lead environmental projects related to solid waste, air, wastewater, spill prevention and sustainability * Maintain knowledge and stay up-to-date on environmental regulations and determine impacts to site operations * Champion training and development needs to support environmental compliance programs throughout the facility * Promote EHS policies, implement the EHS managements systems, and ensure continual improvement of EHS performance in day-to-day operations. Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering/Science or Safety Management * 5 - 10 years' experience in an EHS role at a manufacturing facility or comprehensive environmental compliance support of industrial facilities * Proven experience with Title V, RCRA, NPDES and Spill Prevention Compliance * Excellent communication skills (verbal and written); ability to connect with all levels within the organization * Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn new software programs quickly * Must be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced and demanding environment. Ability to be on call or work off hours as needed. * Demonstrates ability to work independently with attention to detail and organizational abilities. * Superior analytical/ problem solving, written and verbal communications. * Experience working with industrial hygiene and local regulatory agencies preferred.
