Responsibilities & Qualifications RESPONSIBILITIES Staging and removing coils at the slitters and for scrap feeding, identification and removal Assisting the Finishing Operator in all duties, including and slitter setups, changing heads and shafts and associated tasks Assisting in metal movement and core placement at the exit end of the coating line Using overhead cranes and forklift trucks to transport metal and materials to and from the equipment as necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the lines. Performing incidental maintenance and inspections on auxiliary support equipment as required. Service the forklift trucks with fuel and oil as required. Using common hand tools, assist in incidental maintenance activities and in the repair and preventive maintenance of the TLL and slitter equipment during periods of downtime or breakdowns as required Performing clerical work, both paper and computer based, to identify incoming metal quality, and process quality problems and to report time and production Using machines and hand tools as required, finish-pack products, attend the scrap ballers and operate all equipment and processes to the requirements of a comprehensive quality system. Participating in continuous improvement teams, Behavior Based Safety Programs, audits and other activities as required Cutting test samples and conduct SPC activities as required Assisting in maintaining the slitter and packing areas in a clean, orderly, safe and environmentally sound condition. QUALIFICATIONS 2 years of continuous experience in a manufacturing environment HS diploma or equivalent is required; college or trade school is preferred Positive attitude Willingness to learn new things Slitter experience is preferred Familiarity with computers and computer software Location Profile Novelis' Warren facility is located in northeast Ohio- approximately an hour drive from Cleveland and an hour and a half from Pittsburgh. The Quality Inspector will also support calibration activities and gage issuance and recall processes. As part of a continuous improvement philosophy, the Quality Inspector may lend specific expertise to investigation and project teams as warranted. The Quality Inspector must be able to effectively document and advise Management regarding product conformance and capability issues based on observable and repeatable findings. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** + Operate inspection equipment (Hand Gages, CMMs, Keyence optical comparators, etc), to validate product conformance to all internal and customer documented quality requirements. + Support capability evaluations, measurement systems analysis and improvement efforts for new and existing parts. + Perform advanced bench and layout inspections in addition to CMM / Keyence evaluations, to assist Engineering in completing proof of concept work + Support site Calibration processes by assisting in the completion of calibrations, updating the Gage recall systems, and issuing gages as needed. + Support resolution of measurement issues in the Cells and communicate recommendations for corrective / preventive action and quality improvement. + Support and participate in the Internal Audit Process, Certified Operator Audits, customer and process audits, and NADCAP Certification Teams, where necessary. + Support Preliminary Review of NCMR's for validity of rejections and clarity of documentation, where conditions warrant, may include the need to initiate and follow up on stock purges and line checks **QUALIFICATIONS** + High School diploma or GED equivalent + Must have or be willing and able to obtain Certification by The American Society for Quality. + Must be proficient in reading blueprints. + Working knowledge of Microsoft suite (Excel, Outlook, etc). + Requires a minimum of three years of experience working in a manufacturing facility with ISO9001/AS9100. + Requires experience in a role with responsibility to accept/reject product. + Must have experience with and be able to use inspection measurement hand tools and instrumentation. + Experience with gage repeatability and reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies and process capability measurement is preferred. + Bias for action, integrity, strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with minimal supervision, and superior communication skills are required competencies. **PHYSICAL DEMANDS** While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. + The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit. + The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. + The employee must be able to work long periods while utilizing fine hand dexterity and small part manipulation. + Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. As a member of the Controlled Area team, the employee will work with various liquid resins and dry cloth or fiber materials. These materials will be subjected to high heat and pressure processing. The employee is required to wear personal protective equipment that includes some combination of impervious work gloves, protective coveralls, face shields (or goggles), and half mask respirator or PAPR for extended periods of time, daily. In addition, the employee is frequently required to stand for extended periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 55 pounds (30 pounds when less than optimal). A lift of over 55-80 pounds will be done with two people. (Over this limit, a mechanical device will be used.) Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
