Job Summary

Essential Functions
Performs all duties in a safe manner at all times.
Services, inspects and installs residential and commercial gas and electric appliances and HVAC equipment to comply with codes and ensure superior service in terms of safety, reliability, customer satisfaction and monetary value. Develops, maintains and demonstrates related skill proficiency based on changes in products and/or technology in order to provide service excellence. Demonstrates efficient, accurate and productive work practices.
Maintains and repairs the gas distribution system, including but not limited to gas meters and regulators to assure safe and continuous service to customers. Work will be performed in an efficient, accurate and productive manner.
Promotes and accepts accountability for providing superior customer satisfaction and selling of Home Service Plus products and services (e.g., Service Plus contracts, options, Safety Plus and Home Comfort Sales referrals) to customers. Maintains professional working relationships with internal and external customers.
Responds to emergency situations to assure the safe delivery of natural gas and to maintain public and personal safety.
Completes record keeping associated with appliance service and distribution functions to ensure an accurate information system is maintained. Operates company vehicle safely. Maintains vehicle and parts inventory. Personal protective equipment and tools according to company standards and policies.
Performs other related tasks including, but not limited to leak survey work, line locating, foreign construction work, storekeeping, meter reading, chart changing, transporting appliances and equipment, and fleet and facilities maintenance to ensure the efficient operation of the work unit.
Participates in training externally and internally, both field and classroom to increase job knowledge and competency. Advises and assists other employees on the job to provide technical, safety and procedural knowledge.
Education Description
Requires successful completion of a 1 or 2-year certificate, diploma or associate degree program (minimum of 2 semesters or 3 quarters) at an accredited educational institution in heating, refrigeration and air conditioning, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent technical skills.
Experience
Tech B: Entry level position
Without a technical degree, minimum of 2 years' experience in heating, refrigeration and air conditioning.
Tech A:
Must be 6 months in a current position of Tech B
Special Tech II:
Must have met all of the contractual requirements required for the Special II Level.
Able to possess a Journeyman Gasfitter and Refrigeration Certificate of Competency.
Able to demonstrate working knowledge of State of Minnesota Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Code as applied to all gas equipment and gas piping.
Able to possess a Journeyman Certificate of Competency in areas of steam/hot water and warm air preferred.
Able to meet the Operator Qualification requirements for this position or become qualified within the timeframe established by the Company.

Overview

Position Summary
HVAC Service Technician is responsible for completing a variety of tasks associated with quality repair and maintenance of residential HVAC equipment. The HVAC Service Technician will receive routed work from dispatch, will respond to service calls in a timely manner and perform work to the company's quality expectations. All technicians will promote warranty products to American Water customers. This role requires the use of a valid driver's license to drive a company vehicle and must be refrigerant certified. This individual will be responsible to work and drive safely at all times.
While our headquarters is in Naperville, this role is field based in Indiana and requires regular travel to customer home locations.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Understands and comply with all safety policies including calibrating gas Sensit tool every month.
Responsible for reclaiming refrigerant for clean and check technicians in his/her territory during the air conditioning season.
Able to complete most repairs to furnaces, condensers, humidifiers and accessories with no assistance.
Able to complete minor repairs on Hydronic systems including maintenance, pump repair or replacement, zone valve repairs, air purging, standard heat exchangers, evaporator coils and seasonal start-up of the system.
Mastered all electrical wiring of furnaces, condensers and thermostats. This includes high and low voltage wiring.
Thoroughly understands and complies with the inventory policies and procedures. Accountable for use of inventory involving his/her work.
Able to complete all tasks sent to him/her via FSA app including billing customers correctly, ordering parts and materials needed for job completion and handling paperwork properly, timely and legibly.
Must be able to cycle count inventory upon procurement's request.
Ability to utilize a variety of analytical techniques to solve problems.

Basic Qualifications :
Technical Skills, Abilities and Experience:

Certification as a Universal technician as required by 40CFR part 82 subpart F.
A proven understanding on the various types of air conditioning and air-handling systems, kitchen exhaust systems, variable-air-volume systems, refrigeration-and-food equipment, and beverage systems used throughout the Resort
Ability to use the various tools and devices associated with the HVAC/refrigeration trade, including refrigeration gauges, amp probes or clamp meters, vacuum pumps, electrical testers, torches, charging scales, and volt meters
Additional Information :
Those assigned to the AC and Refrigeration Mechanic position are required to attend an annual Hearing Conservation Training class, Respiratory Protection Training class and a Lead Awareness class. They are also required to submit to an annual medical evaluation, fit test. audiometric exam and a semi-annual Lead/Zinc blood test.
SCHEDULE AVAILABILITY
Shifts are typically at night, and individuals must have availability to work Sunday through Saturday, any shift (1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift) including holidays, and must be open to any days off.
