Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and provides low cost goods and services. **Essential Duties/Responsibilities:** + Recognizes safety hazards and follows safety guidelines for personal protection, protection of fellow workers and the protection of the public. + Directs activities by planning and assigning tasks to warehouse personnel and resolves work assignment conflicts. + Interfaces with Contractors, Vendors, Users, and other department personnel in support of department goals and objectives. + Coordinates inspections and maintains inspection logs and documents. + Demonstrates leadership capabilities and acts as a positive role model, accepts responsibility for crew activities. Has ability to assume duties of temporary Crew Leader when assigned. + Provides training to warehouse personnel as Subject Matter Expert. + Employee must arrange own transportation to work location and may be reassigned to another location at the Company's discretion. **Working Conditions:** + Power Plant Environment-Work both inside and outside in all temperatures and climate conditions in accordance with Heat Stress procedures. + Work around large rotating equipment, energized electrical equipment in high noise areas, and/or in confined places, on elevations in excess of 250 feet, or from platforms at heights of 5 feet or greater. Climb stairways, ladders, and work from aerial devices. + Must be prepared to work irregular or rotating shifts and respond to emergency callout 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. + Ability to work in mentally stressful environments: must be able to react to crises where immediate action is required to correct or curtail potentially damaging or hazardous situations. **Minimum Requirements:** + High School Diploma, GED or equivalent knowledge of English (both written and spoken), mathematics and grammar. + Successful completion of Material Handler Training Program or comparable experience. + Five years' experience in warehousing operations. + Have ability to discern and respond to verbal and auditory signals. + Ability to discern assorted colors **Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:** + Knowledge of purchasing, receiving, storing, maintaining and issuing material procedures. + Knowledge of the "Systems Applications Program" (SAP) with ability to perform computer entry and inquires to assist with customer needs. + Knowledge of hazardous material handling procedures. + Ability to operate Company vehicles and equipment (e.g. forklift, plant vehicles, etc.) and maintain operating licenses and certifications. TDL is required. + Knowledge of, and ability to perform Fire Coordinator responsibilities. + Knowledge of common power plant materials. + Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and listening ability to communicate effectively with management, co-workers, clients, and vendors. + Ability to inspect and maintain material handling equipment and machinery. + Ability to transport material between warehouses and site locations and maintain logs. + Ability to work in a team environment. + Ability to accomplish work with little or no supervision. + Ability to use a personal computer and associated software to perform warehouse activities. + Ability to monitor and recommend changes to OSSQ and reorder codes for warehouse location. + Ability to create releases, prepare and ship material to vendor for repair; store and maintain pending repair material. + Ability to arrange and ship hazardous materials to other locations, prepare documents and maintains logs, and acts as Site Contact for hazardous waste storage area. + Knowledge of and ability to manage Open Stock and Tool Room programs where applicable. + Ability to coordinate the Recycle Program for cardboard, paper, pallets, and Styrofoam packing peanuts. + Ability to prepare discrepant receival reports, process material return authorization for discrepant material. + Ability to assist Plant or EDC personnel in maintaining gasoline inventory. + Ability to coordinate the collection and disposition of all scrap metal, wire, wood, lead, and copper. + Ability to expedite material as required. + Ability to maintain inventory records and complete inventory reconciliation. + Ability to coordinate inspections and maintain inspection logs and documentation. + Ability to manage commodities with limited Shelf-Life guidelines. + Ability to manage stocks of bottled and specialty gases for labs, plants, and warehouse. + Ability to manage the rubber goods exchange program. + Ability to perform quality control tasks. + Ability to provide customer service functions for external and internal clients. + Ability to identify and correct discrepancies in material and material storage. + Ability to perform housekeeping duties as required. **Physical Requirements (Demand and Frequency):** + Daily work expectation requires ability to perform tasks by walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, shoveling, climbing, and working with hand tools (up to 25 pounds) in position above and below head, and extended from body to complete repairs. + Lift, carry, position, and use tools and/or equipment (weighing up to 50 lbs.) in awkward positions, swing various weights of sledgehammers, stoop and bend to reach valves, pull on chain-falls or come-a-longs. + Ability to twist the body and neck while driving company vehicles or operating company equipment. + Performance of duties may cause frequent jarring of the body. + Work with and around hazardous and non-hazardous materials (reference the waste management guidance manual). + Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required i.e....steel-toed boots, respirators, goggles, safety glasses etc. **_Please Note: Salary offered will be commensurate with the successful candidate's education and/or experience and in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement covering this position._** NRG Energy is committed to a drug and alcohol-free workplace. Job Summary KDM Engineering is searching for a Distribution Specialist to perform detailed review and training of overhead and /or underground distribution utility projects. A demonstrated ability to develop teams of talented engineers, drive excellence and quality, and mentor less experienced staff is required. Job Functions Independently review design prints related to overhead and underground facilities associated with electric distribution systems and telecommunication networks and infrastructure following client standards, guides, specifications, and procedures. Assist engineers in obtaining appropriate permissions and approvals for new utility infrastructure to be installed. Assist engineers in applying the client's standards, guidelines, specifications, practices and procedures or appropriate industry standards in preparing layouts of overhead and/or underground electric distribution facilities and telecommunication facilities. Assist engineers with the preparation of design sketches, cost estimates, bills of materials and any other required documents and reports for construction and maintenance projects. Act as a liaison to the client in clarifying technical requirements and proposing variances to standard specifications and practices Utilize client and Company information systems to track progress of engineers. Peer review of Drawing sets Perform group trainings for entry level engineers and designers Perform duties as assigned. Required experience Bachelor's degree in engineering with at least 10 years of experience in electric utility design and specification or equivalent experience. Training of peers and/or less experienced personnel in design and specification work Have a working knowledge of the practices and procedures pertaining to technical matters in electric utility distribution design. Ability to assist with clients and other agencies in connection with project design responsibilities. Ability to manage and coordinate several concurrent responsibilities Excellent written and oral communication.
