Sell water treatment boiler and cooling tower chemicals to a variety of industrial customers. Maintain the existing customer base and make cold calls to develop new business. Work alongside friendly, veteran salespeople.
This is an established territory with a sizeable book of business. It includes customers in Healthcare, Food & Beverage, Manufacturing, Commercial & Institutional, and Wastewater.
Run chemical tests to analyze water and document results. Interact and fix mechanical equipment such as pumps, tubing, piping and valves. Program electronic equipment such as cooling tower chemical controllers. Military and mechanical backgrounds are helpful.

Control Room Operator

+ Ensures safe and efficient operation of steam plant boilers (up to 4,000 BHP) and Chillers (up to 2000 tons) and other equipment associated with the steam and chiller plants in accordance with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and standards.
+ Serves as a back-up to the Manager, Plant Operations, and trains new Plant Operators on the operation of the Emory steam and chiller plant systems.
+ Operates and controls utility panels that monitor equipment to maintain utility services to the plants.
+ Maintains and records entries in logbooks, operating logs, and regulatory reports.
+ Oversees operations associated with an electrical power distribution panel.
+ Reads and interprets OEM Manuals; reads precision instruments.
+ Performs minor mechanical piping repairs.
+ Performs preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with engineering practices on utility systems which include but are not limited to the following: compressed air, CO2, steam boilers, water purification, fuel oil, chillers, and glycol.
+ Samples, tests, analyzes, mixes and injects chemicals to maintain boiler waterside conditions and blow downs. Inspects the steam plant to check meters, charts, pressures and temperatures.
+ Ensures a clean boiler room to prevent fire hazards.
+ Operates hand and power tools.
+ Takes the necessary precautions, in keeping with OSHA standards and other applicable federal and state regulations, when working with hazardous chemicals and materials and power equipment.
+ Uses personal protective equipment as required.
+ Drives utility vehicles to and from work sites and safeguards against vandalism and theft.
+ Performs other related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ A high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience in a multi-boiler high pressure steam plant.
+ Holds a Second Class Power Engineers License issued by the National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers, Inc. (NIULPE).
+ A working knowledge of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes for power boilers.
+ Some positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.
+ All candidates must be capable of frequently lifting and carrying 50 pounds and be capable of pushing or pulling up to 150 pounds properly.

Operators are required to complete duties to a degree of proficiency in-line with their licensure level.
Regularly monitor panel board and adjust controls to regulate flow rates, loss of head pressure and water elevation, and distribution of water.
Correctly adjust specified amounts of chemicals such as chlorine, fluoride, and lime into water or adjust automatic devices that admit specified amount of chemicals into tanks to disinfect, deodorize, and clarify water.
Start agitators to mix chemicals and allow impurities to settle to bottom of tank.
Monitor Distribution system and adjust flow rates to adequately maintain system operation.
Clean tanks and filter beds using backwashing (reverse flow of water) at scheduled intervals.
Start and stop chemical feed equipment as required.
Regulate valves and flow dials to maintain filter and pumpage rates.
Increase/decrease chemical feeding rates as required.
Adjust pumps and chemical feeding equipment as required.
Perform basic chemical tests: alkalinity, pH, chlorine, hardness, turbidity, and fluoride.
Accurately test water samples and follow standard titration procedures and record results in logs.
Perform routine maintenance in plant using hand and power tools.
Accept after-hour inquiries and facilitate a response by calling in necessary staff.
Manage water quality in the distribution system by maintaining effective trending of tanks.
Ability and knowledge to understand, troubleshoot, and resolve, a wide variety of water quality inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the job duties successfully.
A high school diploma or GED is required.
Licensure:
Plant Operator - Ohio EPA Class I Water Treatment / Plant Operator's License is required within 24 months of hire.
Plant Operator I - Ohio EPA Class I Water Treatment / Plant Operator's License is required.
Plant Operator II - Ohio EPA Class II Water Treatment / Plant Operator's License is required.
Plant Operator III - Ohio EPA Class III Water Treatment / Plant Operator's License is required. In addition, this position is reserved for operators who have demonstrated an extremely high level of competency in the operation of the plant, and ability to serve as Chief Operator in his/her absence.
Must develop a basic understanding of water treatment plant operations and must be able to become certified by Ohio EPA for Wet Chemistry within 3 months of hire.
Continuing coursework in water treatment plant operations is desirable.
Must be able to work independently.
Must be able to perform manual labor and be willing and able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
