The Mid-level CNC Machinist supports the Prototype and Manufacturing Division (PMD) machine shop at Lakehurst. The Prototype and Manufacturing Division provides critical hardware to the fleet. We overhaul arresting engines and launch valves and are the sole source of supply for the cables used for aircraft arrestment (i.e., purchase cables and cross deck pendants), we manufacture hardware in response to fleet emergencies, and we manufacture a wide range of support equipment and test this equipment appropriately. PMD produces a large range of machined components from small components approximately one inch in size to large frames and equipment bases that are over 30 feet long.
