Must be capable of operating all belt, rotary, internal quench and tempering furnaces as well as the following metal finishing equipment: washers, shot peening equipment, extractors and tumbling barrels.
Retrieve and replace components from prior processes and move to next processes to ensure continuous operation of equipment.
Assist, train and develop new operators.
Requirements:
Must have experience in a metal working environment, preferably chain manufacturing with an emphasis on heat treatment and metal finishing processes. Able to read and interpret engineering blueprints and specifications.
Must be self-starter.
Able to understand and follow procedures for both quality & operations of the process area.
Must be a team player-capable of working with peers and supervisors.
Must be flexible and capable of adapting work practices as required to suit the needs of the business.
Must be capable of handling weights in excess of 50 lbs.
Follow direction / instruction of group leader or supervisor.

Job Objective:
Sets-up and operates all types of machines under the direction of the Supervisor, Lead Person and/or Group Leader.
Essential Job Functions:
Sets-up and operates machines in area assigned, performing duties with little or no supervision.
Obtains prints, tools, collets, wheels, gaging and fixtures as required, changes and replaces tools as required to assure parts are produced in accordance with tolerances and specifications as called for on blue print.
Reads and understands work instructions, GD&T and blueprints.
Assures compliance with job specifications by inspecting parts as produced using micrometers, verniers, gages and/or other measuring equipment.
Diagnoses and corrects machining programs. Reports any problems, difficulties immediately to lead/supervisor.
Maintains area, equipment and tools in neat, orderly condition. Performs basic machine maintenance such as removing chips, adding coolant, etc.
Maintains records or other data as required
Assists in training other operators.
Ability to operate support equipment as necessary for department.
Responsible for production quantity, quality and good machining practices.
Observes all company policies, rules and regulations including attendance, adhering to specified break schedule, good housekeeping, safety and security.
Ability to operate multiple machines simultaneously.
Performs other duties as required, assigned or directed.

Ripley Tools, LLC, a manufacturing company, housed in Cromwell, CT, making hand tools for the preparation for installation and repair in the Telecom and Utility Industries, is seeking a “CNC Operating Professional” to Operate, set-up and program CNC Machining Centers and lathes, as well as assisting in other functions and working with manual machines.
Working with a team of professionals, you will help to maintain quality and production standards, make tool adjustments and perform secondary operations as required. You must be able to set up and edit as needed, inspect your own work with standard gaging and contribute to the continuous improvement and growth of the company.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will need prior CNC/manufacturing/set-up experience, have MasterCam programming experience, ability to work on up to 5 axis machines, and incorporate LEAN practices into daily activity. You must be able to work with a minimum of supervision, be physically able to lift 40 pounds, and work on your feet for extended periods of time. Good working knowledge of shop math, and blueprint reading is a must. Salary will be determined by experience at all levels.
