Job Description
The Model Maker will work within the Engineering Lab team that is part of the Unitary Products Group (UPG) for Bosch Home Comfort Group. In this division we design, test, manufacture, and assemble heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment for the light commercial and residential markets. Bosch Home Comfort has two plants for UPG with approximately 1000 employees each; one in Norman, OK and the other in Wichita, KS. This position will be located in the Norman, OK Engineering Lab and will report to the Model Shop Supervisor.
As a Senior Model Maker working in the Engineering Lab, you will work in a climate-controlled HVAC laboratory environment performing build assignments pertinent to operational improvements and product testing for the UPG product line.
How you will do it:
Develops working prototypes for industry and agency compliance testing.
Plans and schedules build projects and scopes a build from build books/ engineer instructions.
Reads and interpret test standards and develop SOPs / work instructions.
Follows established safety procedures, conduct audits, and maintain a clean work area.
Acts as a technical leader for prototype build team and can mentor new model makers on technical operations such as brazing, pressure testing, and unit modification.

Job Purpose
Canoo is searching for a qualified CNC Programmer/Machinist Fabrication Technician to support Maintenance, Facilities, and Production teams. As a Fabrication Technician, you will weld, machine, turn parts on a lathe, CNC programming, assemble and fabricate assemblies/equipment, and repair/fabricate production equipment. Welding and experience working with machining equipment are needed. Able to create or work off of blueprint diagrams. All work is performed in accordance with established safety procedures and ensures compliance with engineering specifications and/or codes.
Responsibilities (80s of the Position)
Utilize skills in: welding (MIG), lathe turning, Mill (CNC), drill press, press brake, assembly and fabrication skills to support various projects within Canoo Maintenance Team and Manufacturing.
CNC Programming Mastercam and AutoCAD procedures/processes
Follow established safety procedures according to OSHA standards and company procedures.
Assess, analyze and estimate (time, effort and materials required) fabrication projects as needed.
Support Canoo Maintenance and Facilities team members and Production Team members in the execution of their job requirements.
Perform repair work including necessary disassembly and re-assembly of production equipment.
Coordinate efforts with Maintenance, Facilities, Production and Other Departments as needed.
Support equipment PM tasks per manufacturer recommended specifications.
Support troubleshooting intermittent/inconsistent mechanical failures on production equipment.
Identify best practices and create standards combining available information & knowledge.

Required Experience
Strong background in some or all the following: (required)

* Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
* Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
* Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
* Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
* Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly.
* Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
* Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
* Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts.
* Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated.
* Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
* Other duties may be assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
* Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
