CNC Operation: Safely and efficiently operate CNC Saw Machines (and potentially other related equipment like mills and lathes) to cut precision metal components according to engineering specifications.

A minimum of 1 year of recent, hands-on experience operating CNC machinery (saws, mills, or lathes) in a manufacturing environment.
Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Working knowledge of shop mathematics and proficiency in using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers).
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to remain in a stationary position (standing/operating equipment) for extended periods.
Ability to frequently lift and/or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, over the course of a shift.

Position Purpose
The CNC Operator is responsible for machining parts utilizing milling equipment while relying on limited support from others in the machine shop department. Level II machinists will keep parts running and, within specifications, with some consultation from others. They will be moderately self-sufficient in performing duties including, but not limited to, machine tool setup, process prove out, first article inspection, and operations that are required until the job is complete. They will also provide guidance to lower-level machinists. This position relies heavily on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish daily goals. A medium degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Essential Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and job kits, with some assistance.
- Identify, locate, and build all required tooling for production.
- Program various CNC milling machines utilizing CAM software, with limited support.
- Send CNC code/program to self and others.
- Set up majority of products on a variety of milling machine tools within the department.
- Evaluate the quality of materials, parts, and equipment before the manufacturing process is started. Report any concerns to management before continuing with project.
- Operate a variety of milling machine tools within department, as assigned.
- Determine changes needed in programs as required during prove-out phase. Edit existing programs independently, with limited support by others.
- Load and unload milling machine tools once setup have been proven out.
- Operate multiple machine tools when and where applicable.
- Create and edit CNC offsets for both fixtures and tooling.
- Perform multi-fixturing, with limited support.
- Perform tool offsets.
- Perform post processing work during CNC cycle time.
- Optimize work/process to meet/beat projection goals.
- Utilize ERP for tracking purposes.
- Conduct quality check at assignment completion. Report any concerns to management.

- Monitor tools for breakage and tool wear symptoms.

Operation of CNC machine equipment including Trumpf Laser Cutting Tables, Trumpf Punching Machines, Emmegi CNC 4 and 5 axis milling machines, and Trumpf Press Brakes.
Required skills include operation of material handling lifts, use of some hand tools, measuring tools and computers.
Qualifications:
Experience or related school are a plus
High attention to detail, workmanship and appearance is required
High mechanical aptitude to safely and skillfully operate hand tools and other metal working tools
Able to accurately measure and perform basic math
Able to accurately work with and interpret Engineering drawings

CNC Operator I
Hours are 6:30am - 3:00pm Monday thru Friday.
With general supervision, the CNC Operator I applies CAD/CAM knowledge to component design to generate CNC programs that manufacture thermoformed prototypes production tools, heavy gauge tools, production parts and other components required by Brentwood. Employees may perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization
Essential Responsibilities:
Performs duties as back-up for the Tool Assembler.
Has ability to polish and vent cavities.
Selects the proper cutting tools per programming set-up requirements.
Sets up and runs multiple CNC machines with minimal supervision.
Prepares raw materials for the CNC equipment.
Provides routine maintenance on the CNC machinery.
Reads drawings, performs red lining, and completes paperwork.
Comprehends Brentwood documentation processes.
Sets up and runs the CAM programs on the CNC equipment.
Performs perishable tooling set-up per programming requirements.
Display proficiency in general tool room machine operations.
Maintains a clean and safe work area.
Responsible for the quality of machined parts produced on the CNC equipment
Essential Skills:
High School Diploma or equivalent, two years previous machine shop experience or equivalent preferred.
