General Description:

Purpose:

General Description:

Responsibilities:
Sets up and Runs 3 axis CNC vertical mills and/or 2 axis lathes
Downloads programs and makes tool-offset entries on machine
Adjusts feed and speeds, and makes other minor on-machine program changes as needed, and conveys changes back to programming
Observes tool functioning and wear, and replaces tools mid-job if needed.
Performs 2nd operation steps (hardware installation etc.) when requested
Performs dimensional and visual inspection of parts.
Other duties as assigned.
Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment as required (way lube, coolant).
Requirements:
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
2 years minimum machining experience, at least one of which must be on CNC equipment.
Knowledge / Skills
Basic machining knowledge, including feeds and speeds, materials, tooling types and uses.
“Everyday” familiarity with at least one of the following CNC controls: Fanuc, Haas
Familiarity with surface finishes and callouts
Use of basic machining inspection tools including calipers, micrometer, height gage, pin gages, thread gages.
Demonstrated working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic computation, including basic trigonometry.
Physical Demands
Some assigned tasks for this position may involve “Light work” and some may involve “Medium Work” as defined below. The hiring authority may review the applicant’s physical ability based on the specific tasks to be assigned:
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
