JOB SUMMARY:
The CNC Operator is responsible for the day-to-day operation of CNC machines to fabricate scenic and structural components for ASTOUND's event, exhibit, and environment projects. This hands-on role focuses on machine operation, material handling, and basic maintenance-executed with attention to quality, safety, and efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
Work as part of the production team in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Safely operate CNC routers or milling machines to cut various materials (wood, plastic, aluminum, etc.) based on provided programs.
Set up machines for each job, including securing materials, loading tooling, and zeroing machine settings.
Interpret work orders, setup sheets, and drawings to ensure accurate part fabrication.
Monitor machine operations and make on-the-fly adjustments to maintain quality and prevent downtime.
Handle raw materials and finished parts, ensuring proper labeling and organization.
Conduct routine part inspections using measuring tools (calipers, tape measures, etc.) to verify conformity to specifications.
Identify and report quality issues or machine malfunctions to supervisors or programmers.
Perform basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning machines, changing bits, and maintaining a safe and organized work area.
Assist with unloading, staging, and post-processing of cut parts (e.g., sanding, de-tab, edge prepping).
Support other departments as needed in collaboration with carpentry, graphics, and fabrication teams.
Follow instructions from the CNC Programmer, Manager, and senior department members.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience operating CNC routers in a scenic, exhibit, or custom fabrication shop.
Familiarity with KOMO, WEEKE, or similar CNC brands.
Experience using hand and power tools for part prep and cleanup.
Forklift and/or scissor lift certification is an asset.
1-3 years experience operating CNC machinery in a production or fabrication environment.
Familiarity with working around G-code programs and interpreting simple machine readouts.
Ability to read and follow job packets, part labels, and basic technical drawings.
Comfortable working with wood, foam, plastic, and other common fabrication materials.
Strong work ethic - punctual, dependable, and safety-conscious.
Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task with minimal supervision.
Basic understanding of shop math and measuring tools.
Willingness to learn new machines, tools, and processes.

Job Summary -- Essential Functions/Duties
The Mission OperationsController II provides control, coordination, and direction to personnel operating system assets involved in mission activity. The incumbent performs complex assignments with widely varying duties including the complete cycle of testing parameters as related to primary assignment, determining cause and effect relationships, reaching conclusions, and recommending solutions. The incumbent performs with the ability to conduct a variety of tests under stressful conditions, in a constantly changing test environment.
Employee will be responsible for the following functions/duties:
Conduct testing objectives with project director using applicable systems for each test
Setup, operate, and monitor communications networks, computer terminals, and CRT video displays to ensure integrity of processed data
Provide positive control of assets during assigned missions, both close control as wells as tactical control
Conduct test from a command post and direct systems as necessary to satisfy test objectives.
Interface directly with project director and customer to ensure test objectives are met with the scheduled systems

Provide assistance with scheduling and administrative requirements
Use established policies and procedures and subject matter knowledge to complete assignments of moderate complexity that vary in nature and sequence
Perform related work as required.

Each employee must read, understand, and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to their job.
Working Conditions
Work is primarily sedentary in an office and operations center environment; however, some walking, stooping, bending, climbing stairs, stretching, and lifting up to 40 pounds may be required. The incumbent must have good visual acuity and the ability to discern all colors of the spectrum.
This position may require travel.
Requirements -- Education, Technical, and Work Experience
The incumbent should be a high school graduate or equivalent, graduate of a military Air Intercept Control school or Air Weapons Control school and have four years of experience controlling aircraft using close and tactical control. This position requires six years of experience with electronic systems, radars, communications/video systems, and knowledge of their operational characteristics. The incumbent must be familiar with testing procedures and experienced in directing the use of test assets and personnel to fulfill mission goals in an ambitious testing environment.
In addition, a Mission OperationsController II must also possess the following qualifications:
Incumbent must be familiar with testing procedures and experienced in directing the use of test assets and personnel to fulfill mission goals in an ambitious testing environment
Must have good verbal and written communication skills and be experienced in the use of computer terminals
Must be able to work duty days in excess of eight hours, shift work, overnight stays, and weekend work to meet required schedule demands
Must have working knowledge of word processing and integrated software applications
May be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
Must possess a valid, state-issued driver's license.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, program, and implement Crestron-based control systems for audio-visual applications in commercial and residential environments.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Proven experience in programming Crestron control systems, including Crestron Certified Programmer (CCP) certification.
Strong background in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) programming, including familiarity with DSP processors from manufacturers such as Biamp, Extron, QSC.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Crestron Simpl# and Simpl# Pro.
Knowledge of AV protocols and standards, including but not limited to: TCP/IP, RS-232, RS-485, and HDMI.
Experience with AV equipment and components, including video codecs, displays, audio processors, microphones, and speakers.
Ability to read and interpret AV system designs, schematics, and technical documentation.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients.
Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Willingness to adapt to new technologies and a continuous learning mindset.
Crestron Digital Media certification and experience with AV-over-IP systems is a plus.
