Job Description
Insight Global is looking for an inside machinist at the journeyman or specialized level that can, not only operate CNC and manual Lathes and Mill machines but can set up the machine from start to finish. After a 3-week training period and safety courses, the inside machinist will be assigned to a specific machine (Manual Lathes, Manual Mill, CNC Lathes or CNC Mill) and will be giving a specific project. The project could last a few hours or a few weeks depending on what item they are assigned to. They could be working with material that is 2 feet long or 10 feet long. Most of the material they will be working with will be stainless steel with a little bit of aluminum and copper. Onsite there will be a CNC programmer so the inside machinist will need to have knowledge of G&M codes but does not need to have the programming knowledge. Once they finish one project, they will move on to the next project.

Summary of Responsibility:

Qualifications & Competencies:
A.S/B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or 10 years of related field service
8-10 years industry experience as a CNC Programmer, Manufacturing Engineer, Applications Engineer, etc.
8-10 years CAD/CAM Experience
Experience with CNC machining, part programming and knowledge of the manufacturing industry
Cross functional team collaboration
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (word, excel, power point)
Pragmatic problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
NX/UG, SolidWorks, Esprit, or Master CAM experience preferred, but any 3D CAD software experience is a plus
Intimate knowledge of modern tooling and work holding solutions
Expertise with various Machine Tool brands and commonly used controls (Okuma)(Fanuc)

Position Overview

5' x 8' table with B-axis horizontal configuration
Programmable 5-axis non-orthogonal head
Automatic head and tool changing support
Experience with large-envelope machining, multi-axis heads, and complex setups is critical for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate large CNC horizontal and vertical machining centers and turning centers
Perform complex job setups using engineered fixtures and tooling
Operate manual lathes and mills as required for precision work
Conduct in-process inspections to ensure quality standards are met or exceeded
Perform minor CNC program edits
Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications using GD&T
Work collaboratively with programmers, supervisors, and fellow machinists
Maintain a high level of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail
QualificationsExperience
Minimum of 8 years of CNC machining experience
Prior experience operating large machines in a job shop or heavy industrial setting preferred
Technical Skills
Proficient in setup and operation of large CNC machines
