Performs all duties of the Model Shop Specialist
Work in a team environment with engineering and supervisory personnel to troubleshoot and resolve design, equipment, and operating difficulties.

As a CNC Machinist Trainee, you will undergo comprehensive training to master the following skills, while contributing directly to production goals:

Responsibilities and Activities:
Sets up machine per individual job
Runs machine at optimal speed to meet production standards
Performs adjustments on machine to ensure maximum productivity
Loads components onto machine per job instructions
Performs regular quality checks on all components and finished packages to ensure quality standards are met
Recalibrates equipment as required
Communicates job status and production concerns/issues during shift transition to ensure optimal productivity for following shift
Notifies Team Lead of component quality issues
Works with Team Lead to resolve quality concerns
Ensures safety practices are followed
Responsible for maintenance and organization of workflow area
Completes appropriate reporting of production KPIs
Performs additional responsibilities as required to ensure the team's success.

CNC Machinist
Summary/Objective
The CNC Machinist produces machine parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine. The CNC Machinist loads parts in the machine, cycles machine and detects malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position runs productions lots, communicates with coworkers regarding production runs and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The CNC Machinist performs a wide range of duties including some or all of the following:
Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner
Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters.
Program mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
Load feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to international standards.
Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Qualifications
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience Preferences
1-3 years of manual machining experience
Basic computer skills
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Knowledge of and experience with operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance
Design techniques, tools and principals involved in the production of precision technical plans and drawings
Metals and the quality and machine-ability and uses of metals, alloys and other materials
Mechanically inclined, and understand manufacturing techniques
Ability to prioritize, schedule and review work
Effectively and safely operate a variety of assigned tools and equipment
Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, sketches and work orders to others
Maintain routine records
Ability to move or transfer products with a hoist or overhead crane.
Attention to detail
Ability to work on multiple priorities with frequent interruptions
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently without daily supervision
Working Conditions
The work environment is in a manufacturing facility where noise level is usually moderate.
Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
Requires the use of hands for simple handling, grasping and fine manipulations

Requires standing for long periods of time
Requires making repetitive motions while operating equipment.

The CNC Machinist may also be assigned additional duties, such as operating a laser marker or light assembly, to meet customer order demands.
