This would include calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, and scales. Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, inserts, accessories, and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required. Responsible for loading parts, proving out programs, operating controls, setting offsets, simple program edits, and initial inspection of parts to ensure it meets tolerances. Communicate with management, production control, quality, and other team members for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues. Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment, to like new appearance, according to maintenance plans and established procedures. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills and Experience Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to operate a variety of precision measuring instruments, including calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, and scales. Minimum of two years of experience working on the set-up of 5-axis machines, such as Hass or Fanuc preferred. Working knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, fixtures, inserts, and other accessories used to operate various machines. Ability to read and interpret company documents, such as blueprints, safety rules, operating/manufacturing instructions, policies, and procedures. Good manual dexterity required to work with small parts. Capable of recognizing and solving typical problems that can occur in own work area; evaluates and selects solutions from established options. Effective oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time management, problem-prevention, and problem-solving skills. Able to work with cross-functional teams. Able to identify areas of low efficiency and work to provide improvements. Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time Must be able to work as scheduled and arrive to the worksite promptly to receive work assignment. The person in this role may be required to train on first shift up-to six months before moving into the intended shift (2nd shift). 2nd Shift is Monday-Thursday from 3:30pm-1:30am. **Key Responsibilities:** + Perform rework operations such as reboring, honing and lapping, assemble sections and use micrometers, height gauges and a variety of fixed gauges to check mounting distances of gears, back lash, end play, fits, clearances and other specified requirements. + Use a variety of hand and bench tools to perform rework and modification operations such as drilling, reaming, cleaning, tapping, deburring, filing, polishing, buffing, and blending operations on various parts. + Operate a variety of machine tools, (grinders, milling machines, lathes, drill presses, EDM, etc.) to perform various machining and rework operation in aircraft engine parts. + Fabricate and grind simple jibs, fixtures, templates, reamers, plug gauges, fly cutters, adapters, pullers, bushings, etc. **Pratt & Whitney in Bridgeport, WV is a FAA regulated facility and as such under the U.S. Departments of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
