The RN is responsible for the observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care; health teaching and counseling of the ill, injured, or infirm; and the promotion of wellness, maintenance of health, and prevention of illness of others. Administers medications and treatments as prescribed or authorized by a duly licensed practitioner authorized by the laws of this state to prescribe such medications and treatments.

EDUCATION
Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Current licensure as an RN in Florida or appropriate compact licensure. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 1 year RN experience in acute care setting preferred. Customer service abilities including effective listening skills. Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.

The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).

Competent clinician to provide direct nursing care to an assigned group of patients and possesses knowledge and skill to meet standards for competent professional nursing practice as specified in the Texas Nurse Practice Act. Competently functions as a member of an interdisciplinary care team which is focused and patient centered. Manages unexpected or emergency situations that are commonly seen in assigned specialty population. Serves as a resource for other nursing staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Competently and independently assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents the daily care of assigned patients.
* Competently identifies patients care needs, formulates appropriate nursing diagnoses, develops and individualizes care plan, and revises plan of care as needed.
* Competently executes physician's orders for all assigned patients: Administers medications and treatments and delivers culturally congruent and specialty appropriate competent nursing care in accordance with UTMB, TDCJ and/or TJJD policies, procedures, and standards in a caring and compassionate manner.
* Competently and independently performs routine and complex technical procedures/sklls in assigned specialty area.
* Competently and independently plans, coordinates, and piroritizes patient care activities according to skill level and work complexity.
* Adheres to internal controls established for department.
* Performs related duties as required.

EQUIPMENT:

Standard patient care supplies, equipment and mechanical devices.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Located within the confines of a prison, jail or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Registered Nurse (RN) with two (2) years of clinical RN experience. Must possess and maintain a current license or valid permit to practice in Texas. Current BLS-HP required.

This is an open-pooled position. Applicants' education/experience will be considered and the position may be filled at a lower or higher level, as appropriate. Applicants with less than two (2) years of experience will be considered for a Nurse Clinician II or Nurse Clinician I position.

This is a non-benefit eligible position limited to a maximum of 19 hours per week.

Compensation

$7,500 Sign-on Bonus for eligible external candidates who meet all conditions for payment - this is in addition to the fantastic benefits and compensation package offered by Providence that begin on your first day of employment.

The RN Clinician provides direct nursing services and case management related to infusion therapy for patients in the home, clinic or an alternate living site. This is accomplished through collaboration with the patient and/or caregiver, the physician, other health care providers and the payer. This position functions as a professional role model by demonstrating competency in all phases of the nursing process, collaborating with other health care workers to promote quality patient care, and acting as a resource for home care nursing staff for patients with infusion home care needs.

Required qualifications:

• Education sufficient for licensure
• One (1) year experience in acute care nursing
• Current License as a Registered Nurse in the applicable state. A secondary Registered Nurse license may be required for bordering states.

• Home health or home infusion experience
