Summary:
The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) delivers rapid-response, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency department setting. This role involves assessing patient conditions, implementing urgent care plans, administering life-saving treatments, and collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure high-quality, efficient, patient-centered care in critical situations. The ER RN demonstrates strong clinical skills, exceptional critical thinking abilities, excellent communication under pressure, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and professional ethics.
Essential Work Functions:
Rapidly assess and triage patients upon arrival, prioritizing care based on the severity of their condition
Explain emergency procedures and treatments to patients and families
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved emergency nursing techniques and protocols
Prepare equipment and aid physicians during emergency treatments and examinations
Monitor patient comfort and safety throughout their time in the emergency department, responding to immediate needs
Observe and document patient conditions as required within scope of practice
Take and monitor vital signs using clinical judgment to address deviations and prevent complications
Respond to life-saving situations based upon emergency nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols
Document comprehensive nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records (EMR)
Initiate patient education plans according to individualized needs, considering the acute nature of emergency care
Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, specialists, paramedics, social workers and other support staff to ensure comprehensive care
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills:
Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
Physical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
Technical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail

Identifies and evaluates client needs and appropriateness of home care by reviewing the initial intake screening form before assignment of direct care staff.
Assists with the orientation of new clinical staff to familiarize them with policies and procedures.
Conducts client visits in the appropriate setting as needed.
Initiates in-home supervisory visits of clinical staff as needed.
The ability to handle on-call, which is after work hours.
Maintains confidentiality of records within the scope of their position.
Participates in any required functions in the absence of, or request by, the Director of Nursing.
Works closely with the electronic medical record (EMR) to ensure client electronic charts are maintained, updated, and remain in compliance with company standards.
Understands details around the knowledge of clinical workflow as it pertains to the use of EMR.
Participates in formal and informal problem-solving processes to meet the EMR computer education needs and established outcomes for users.
Provides trainer sessions for peers and field staff to expand training team expertise.
Provides coaching support to new staff to ensure compliance and consistency as it relates to the EMR.
Conducts EMR chart audits.
Prepares and submits a course of study including program objectives, student performance objectives, and lesson plans for training in accordance with all regulations and company policies.
Plans, provides, and supervises training in a classroom setting, informing students of standard best practices and laws surrounding specialized hands-on nursing skills.
Performs other duties as assigned in a professional matter.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Active RN license in good standing
2+ years of combined public health nursing experience and progressive professional responsibilities in public health nursing; or having 3+ years of combined public health nursing experience and progressive professional responsibilities in public health nursing.
1+ years of experience in home health care or equivalent experience is required.
Current and Active BLS Certification Required.

Job Title: Triage Nurse
Department: Medical Reports To: Director of Nursing / Clinical Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
The Clinic Triage Nurse is responsible for assessing patient symptoms and concerns during in-person visits to determine the acuity level and type of medical care required. This role ensures timely, safe, and appropriate patient care by providing clinical advice, education, and care coordination while following established protocols and scope of practice.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide clinical assessment and triage for patients during walk- in visits as well as patients scheduled for appointments when needed.
• Utilize evidence-based guidelines and established protocols to determine the acuity of patient symptoms and recommend appropriate care (clinic visit, urgent care, ER referral, or home management).
• Document all triage assessments, advice given, and follow-up plans accurately and promptly in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Collaborate with providers and clinic staff to ensure patients receive timely and appropriate care based on triage findings.
• Provide patient education regarding symptoms, medications, follow-up care, and self-care strategies.
• Identify and escalate urgent or emergent patient situations appropriately.
• Assist in care coordination by scheduling appointments, coordinating referrals, and arranging transportation if necessary.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff training related to triage and patient safety.
• Support clinic flow and provide direct patient care as needed.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of practice.
BLS, ACLS certified
• Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred, preferably in ambulatory, urgent care, or emergency care settings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
• Competency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Familiarity with evidence-based triage protocols and nursing standards.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or emergent situations.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
