The Residential RN Supervisor is responsible for compliance to regulations, policies and procedures. The Residential RN Supervisor will ensure the continuity of care within the maintenance medication programs. The Residential RN Supervisor will maintain clear communication with pharmaceutical contacts to work toward improving medication access. The Residential RN Supervisor will oversee and/or coordinate insurance communications to obtain prior authorizations and any other communication as necessary. Provides training on medical issues to clinical staff. Dispenses IM injections. Supervises all other CD nursing staff within the agency. Audits client charts regularly to ensure compliance to protocols. Obtains prior authorizations from insurances as needed. Seeks and/or provides coverage when other CD nurses are off. Maintain communication with pharmaceutical companies regularly. Communication with venders to ensure receiving best possible outcomes. Schedule and assigned duties are subject to change based on the needs of the program and the clients we serve. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Must have strong knowledge of nursing functions, including mental health medications as well as maintenance medications. Must be knowledgeable on protocols for maintenance medications. Must be knowledgeable about communicable disease transmission. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to relate to clients and staff both individually and in group settings. Ability to speak Spanish desirable. May be required to participate as member of on-call team. Supervisory experience desirable. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduated from an accredited school of professional nursing, a bachelor's degree preferred, plus a license to practice as a registered professional nurse in New York State or possession of a temporary permit. Four years of experience, at least three of which must have been in mental health, substance abuse treatment, or perinatal health care setting. AND A valid NYS drivers' license. Automobile in good working order. Must have Accredited NYS Defensive driving course; or obtain within 15 days of hire. Must maintain Active NYS Defensive Driving class every 3 years, upon expiration. Provides age appropriate medical screening and preventive interventions to adults and older adults. Requests prior authorizations for medications. Provides health monitoring service groups for minimum of 30 - 60 minutes Assists in linkage to PCP, Health Home, or other community resources. Through releases of information, communicates with community resources such as personal care physicians, insurance companies, and others involved in client care. Works closely with staff consulting psychiatrists or providers. May supervise student interns. Maintains inventory of on-site store medications in compliance with NYS regulations. Properly disposes of medical waste in compliance with NYS standards. Completes all trainings required by the agency. Performs all other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Associates degree from an accredited school for professional nursing and four (4) years of paid work experience as a professional nurse -OR- Bachelor's degree in professional nursing Valid NYS licensure as a Registered Nurse. 2 years of experience working with children & families preferred. Experience in mental health or substance use disorder treatment setting preferred. Ability to work successfully in a team setting and fast paced environment. Excellent communication skills. Venipuncture skills preferred. Knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques preferred. Valid NYS Driver's License. Must have accredited NYS Defensive Driving course; or obtain within 15 days of hire and send certification of completion to Human Resources. Must maintain active NYS Defensive Driving course every 3 years and send a copy of the new certification of completion upon expiration. Must maintain valid vehicle inspection, registration, and insurance cards and send updated copies to Human Resources upon expiration.
