The Pharmacy Inpatient Manager at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California has responsibility for a specific area or group of employees within the pharmacy department, and may have medical center and/or department specific scope of leadership. Performs job duties with sensitivity to the patients' diverse cultural backgrounds. What's this role all about?
Oversees clinical pharmacy services in the medical/surgical units of the medical center.
Ensures department compliance with state and federal laws, accreditation, professional and regulatory agency standards and licensure requirements. Maintain staff compliance with medical center policies, procedures and protocols. May conduct tracers to ensure staff compliance as regulatory issues or risks are identified.

Provide feedback on short and long-range unit plans and programs consistent with departmental and organizational goals. Identifies opportunities for expanded clinical services and implements new programs, processes and services.
Provides leadership in daily operations. Assists leadership in assessing and resolving inpatient operational issues and problems. Functions as a positive, creative and effective leader, actively participating in departmental performance improvement activities to ensure self-directed staff, applying all policies fairly and consistently. Conduct performance improvement studies to evaluate opportunities to improve clinical and distributive services.
Ensures area of responsibility maintains customer focus by serving as a role model for customer relations, providing feedback and maintaining a positive work climate. Works collaboratively with nursing and physician leadership to implement department initiatives to improve the patient's experience.
Ensures staff schedules and efficient work flow provide for appropriate coverage of ongoing operations. Support leadership in assessing pharmacist staffing needs for units of responsibility. Review staff schedules prior to publishing. Assists Administrator on Duty (AOD) in schedule coverages.
Manages assigned staff with responsibility, work with assigned staff to identify their goals and opportunities for development of knowledge and skills. Also provide coaching and training to staff.
Serves as preceptor and teacher for pharmacy students, interns, residents and technicians when they are on rotation or staffing in the Hospital or Administration rotations.
May also perform all functions of a staff pharmacist and will work as a staff pharmacist in their assigned area as needed.

Communicate results of patient assessment, reassessment, and ongoing monitoring to the physician, team members, and others as appropriate to the individual needs of the patient.
Document all nursing services in the Electronic Medical Record including but not limited to training sessions, routine and non-routine in-person interactions, and phone conversations. Documentation should accurately reflect the patient status and nursing interventions and be written to ensure continuity of care.
Participate in infection control monitoring, implementation, and recording as requested.
Be familiar with emergency equipment and all emergency operational procedures. Communicate and regularly review Emergency Preparedness procedures with all home patients, including but not limited to emergency disconnection from dialysis equipment, what to do and who to contact if displaced from home.
Ensure clinic and patient supply inventory and usage is appropriate for patient prescriptions and place orders in timely manner to avoid fees and penalties.
Continually seek to improve patient and quality outcomes through tracking and trending of program and patient performance, use of critical thinking skills and root cause analysis to improve patient and quality outcomes. Assist in obtaining data for the continuous quality improvement activities.
Obtain routine and non-routine laboratory tests as ordered and communicate critical lab values and urgent patient needs to the responsible physician or physician extender in a timely manner.
Complete and document monthly review of patient medication profiles. Administer medications as ordered by the physician.
Responsible for performing on call nursing services, nights and weekends, on a rotational basis as needed or assigned.
Flexible with staffing locations and hours to accommodate patient and USRC home program needs.
Regular and reliable attendance is required for the position.
Home Hemodialysis Only:
* Coordinate home evaluation with technical services department to ensure that the necessary electrical, plumbing and drainage requirements for proper equipment operation are met prior to patient acceptance into home program.
* Ensure required and appropriate water sampling is complete per policy and product requirements. Monitor and report water sample and culture results.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Requirements include:
Current RN license in applicable state. License must be maintained as current and in good standing.
12 months of clinical experience in providing nursing care and 3 months of experience in the specific modality for which the nurse will provide home dialysis training, except in states with a more stringent requirement such as Texas, which requires at least 6 months experience in the specific home modality.
Previous experience in providing nursing care to patients on maintenance dialysis preferred.
CPR certification required prior to patient care assignment.
Confirmation of ability to distinguish all primary colors.

Registered Nurse - Cardiac Cath Reporting to the Director of Cardiac Services or designated supervisors and charge nurses, responsibilities include initial assessment, reporting abnormal findings or values to the physician and collaborating with the anesthesiologist and specialist. Will be responsible for identifying the need for further assessment based on the patient's clinical presentation/diagnosis and tolerance of diagnostic testing/scheduled procedure.
Essential Job Duties:The Cardiac Cath RN is responsible for performing initial assessment appropriate to the patient's clinical presentation. Responsible for pre-screening patient lab work, mobility, allergies and medication history prior to invasive diagnostic testing/procedures. The RN is responsible for appropriately notifying physician if schedule invasive test or procedure is impacted by assessment. Performs interventions identified specific to the patient's individual needs to ensure safe, successful invasive diagnostic testing/ procedure. Documents nursing intervention and patient teaching, responsible for plan of discharge or transfer.
Qualifications
Five years critical care experience required, procedure experience preferred
Interventional Neurology and/or EP experience strongly preferred
Current California RN license (maintain current), BSN preferred
BLS (maintain current AHA)
ACLS (maintain current AHA)
