The nurse practitioner provides comprehensive direct patient care and scholarly practice including obtaining comprehensive patient histories, performing complete physical examination, ordering and performing diagnostic testing and screening, diagnosing illness, prescribing both pharmacological and other treatments for patients, and providing health maintenance and promotion interventions such as patient and family education and counseling. Job Description Korzen Health seeks a Wound Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) available 2 days/week to lead the Wound Care Clinic program in the Hunstville, AL market area, in collaboration with Healogics and Huntsville Hospital System. For over 25 years, Healogics has been treating patients with chronic wounds from over 600 hospital-based wound care centers across the country. Currently, Healogics treats over 300,000 wound care patients annually and has healed nearly 4 million wounds. Healogics is the worlds leading expert in wound healing. This position is based in our outpatient wound care clinic and is exclusively dedicated to procedural wound care. Our standard work hours are daytime hours averaging around 40 hours per week. Scope of Practice Highlights Full Team support includes Case Manager, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Nurses, Office Manager, and Front/Back End Support. We offer advanced wound-care treatments to promote healing, including: Cellulitis therapy, compression therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, infection management and prevention, wound cleaning, and wound dressing. Teams will average approximately 18 to 22 patients per day, with a majority receiving wound care and less than 5% receiving Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, totaling 40 hours per week. There are no night shifts, on-call responsibilities, or weekend hours. The nurse practitioner provides comprehensive direct patient care and scholarly practice including obtaining comprehensive patient histories, performing complete physical examination, ordering and performing diagnostic testing and screening, diagnosing illness, prescribing both pharmacological and other treatments for patients, and providing health maintenance and promotion interventions such as patient and family education and counseling. Also, the NP assumes accountability for indirect care responsibilities, which support patient care including staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement. Qualifications Education: Completion of Nurse Practitioner Masters of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university. Successful completion of a National Certification Exam for NP. License, registration and/or certification: Current registration through the Alabama board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners, and approval of the Northwest Alabama Healthcare Authority credentialing board. BLS for Healthcare Providers, ACLS and/or PALS Additional skills/abilities: Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
