Performs a physical exam based upon the age and patient history as per the Supervisory Agreement in place with OSMB. Must be able to work with autonomy within Ohio law under direction of supervising physician. Identifies significant health and medical risk factors. Orders, interprets and evaluates laboratory test and other diagnostic studies to assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs. Develops a diagnosis by analyzing and synthesizing collected data. Develops a treatment plan along with the patient and significant others as directed and reviewed by physician. Performs diagnostic or therapeutic interventions consistent with certification, law and Akron Children's Hospital privileges. May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by prescriptive authority through Ohio Board of Medicine and hospital policy. Develops patient education plan. Collaborates with nursing, medical and other healthcare team members regularly to ensure quality patient care. May serve as clinical preceptor for PA students. Other duties as assigned.
Outpatient

Responsibilities:
Inpatient
Provides medical care to patients with complex acute, critical, and chronic health conditions, including the delivery of acute care services. Practice with a variety of specialty-based populations including neonatal, pediatric, and adult. Practices in any setting in which patients require complex monitoring and therapies, high intensity medical intervention, or continuous vigilance within the range of high-acuity care. Participates in quality monitoring through the review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes on a bi-annual basis to assure quality care and per ORC requirements. This review is completed via the Focused Professional Performance Evaluation (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Performance Evaluation (OPPE) for Advanced Practice Providers as part of Joint Commission requirements.
Outpatient

SCOPE OF ROLE
Reporting to Chief Medical Officer, and under the direction of the site-level Associate Medical Director, and the organization's Medical Director of Psychiatry, a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Signature Health Inc. provides compassionate, supportive, patient-centered psychiatric medical care to our patients. Our Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works diligently to help improve the daily lives of our patients by providing evaluations/consultations, diagnosis, monitoring of progress, and pharmacologic and other appropriate psychological health treatment services. Our Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with Signature Health staff, including our primary care physicians, counselors, case managers, and other outside sources to provide quality holistic care for our patients.
HOW YOU'LL SUCCEED
Providing ongoing consultation and management for assigned patients as requested or as necessary in accordance with accepted standards of psychiatric practice.
Providing psychiatric services on the days and at the times established and scheduled by Signature Health. Our expectation is that the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner's schedule will be maximized during his/her clinical schedule in order to best serve all our clients in need and to maximize access to services for new clients. This may include providing services on a same-day basis or providing care to patients using a walk-in service model.
Utilizing the electronic medical records system to timely and accurately fulfill all administrative responsibilities attendant to his/her performance of direct patient care, including but not limited to, entry and completion of progress notes detailing all patient encounters, services provided and treatment plans recommended; electronic order entry of medications and diagnostic tests; and other required documentation in accordance with the policies and procedures of Signature Health and/or other relevant accrediting or regulatory bodies. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner must ensure compliance with Signature Health's note completion policy.
Preparing and attend to all reports, claims, and correspondence (including email) necessary or appropriate to the performance of the professional services. Email is a regular form of communication within Signature Health and therefore prompt response, generally a response within 24 hours (or sooner as medically/business appropriate) is required.
Referring patients to other services within the agency, other physicians, including specialists and other health care providers, when and if needed.
Maintaining competence in his/her area of specialty by attending professional conventions or seminars as well as participating in educational activities offered by professional societies on a reasonable basis.
Providing coverage when other physician employees/contractors are unavailable due to vacations, holidays, illness, other personal or professional absences, or as required by Signature Health.
Being available to take calls as assigned by the Agency.
Reporting incidents timely, including major unusual incidents, and other information required to appropriate governmental authorities and as required for Agency reporting.
Participating in Agency required quality assurance, peer review, compliance, and credentialing/privileging activities.
Attending administrative meetings, as needed.
Serving as a collaborating physician, as needed, and/or may provide supervision to Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, residents, interns or others.

Practice emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems. Participates in quality monitoring through the review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes on a bi-annual basis to assure quality care and per ORC requirements. This review is completed via the Focused Professional Performance Evaluation (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Performance Evaluation (OPPE) for Advanced Practice Providers as part of Joint Commission requirements.
• Identifies patient/family needs for discharge (including patient/family) education needs, equipment needs, further home care needs, transportation needs or referrals required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
To qualify for the Nurse Practitioner position, you must have:
Certification as PMHNP (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner)
Previous experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting desirable.
Working knowledge of the addiction and recovery field and experience in clinical practice
Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds
Communication with organization or comparable entities preferred
Valid driver's license
Must provide proof of insurance (as needed), complete credentialing and background checks, supply references, participate in necessary documentation and billing software audits and needed based on position type.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As Nurse Practitioner, you will:
Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and regulatory agencies.
Ensure timely rounds for all admissions, discharges, and complex patients with timely and accurate documentation to demonstrate the reason and outcome of session.
Provide individualized care for all patients based on individual symptoms, needs and evaluation and in accordance with the agreed upon treatment
plan.
Attend and at times lead MEC, P&T, Quality, and UR committees within the facilities.
Attend treatment team at minimum 3 times a week, but could be daily as needed based on program and patient load needs.
Complete billing for services and time spent on patient care daily. Bill facility and or clocks in and out daily to demonstrate time spent on other
duties outside of patient care.
Collaborate with other medical staff on maintaining a high level of service and quality medical care.
May provide regular oversight to allied health professionals within the organization.
Provide on call coverage as needed and agreed upon and may assist with the development and approval of the medical coverage calendars within
the facility.
Express ideas effectively in individual, public, and group situations and work collaboratively to find solutions to problems.
Role model competence, enthusiasm, and commitment to quality that is desired from all hospital staff.
Respond (within 15-30 mins) to the nursing team and the admissions team(s) when calling for orders and/or medical consultation.
Train other Providers as needed
Complete monthly to quarterly FPPE/OPPEs as assigned.
Participate and engage as needed in regulatory survey activity, business development growth and program expansion.
Communicate in person, via Telehealth, and telephone on services provided as necessary.
Participate as needed in probate, guardianship, forced medication, and other legal hearings as needed for patient care purposes, as well as provide second opinions as needed or requested by providers, courts, or patients.
