The SBHC Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing primary healthcare, as outlined by Jefferson Parish Schools and the Office of Public Health. Reports to: Coordinator of School Based Health Centers, the Executive Director of Health and Related Services, and the Medical Director of the School Based Health Center. Scope of Responsibility: Elicits a comprehensive health history and performs a physical assessment, sports or comprehensive physical according to the Office of Public Health standards. The NP uses skills of observation, inspection, palpation, percussion and auscultation as well as basic instruments and indicated screening procedures for the purpose of reporting or referring to a medical doctor any abnormal findings. The nurse practitioner is directly accountable to the medical director in matters that pertain to medical practice.
