Augsburg University's CCNE-accredited Doctor of Nursing Practice - Family NursePractitioner (DNP-FNP) program is a post-BSN Doctor of Nursing Practice program track focused on preparing nurses for the advanced practice role of family nursepractitioner. We are inviting applications for a core faculty position (non-tenure track) to begin in May 2026. The Doctor of Nursing Practice - Family NursePractitioner (DNP-FNP) track prepares nurses with a prior bachelor's or master's degree in nursing for advanced nursing leadership and the clinical role of providing integrative primary care to individuals and families across cultures and care settings. The FNP track emphasizes eliminating barriers to health through peaceful, just, and collaborative actions that uphold and improve human potential. Graduates are eligible to apply for certification as Family NursePractitioners (FNPs) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and American Academy of NursePractitioners (AANP).
Preferred candidates will be committed to teaching and mentoring in the DNP-FNP track of the DNP program. Responsibilities for this full-time position (11-month appointment, 0.75) will include teaching, academic advising, supervision of student DNP projects, and service to the university. Preferred candidates will also have experience providing care for diverse populations in primary care, integrative care, or functional medicine. Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree in nursing prior to assuming the position.
Current, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) / Certified NursePractitioner (CNP) in the State of Minnesota, or eligibility for RN and APRN licensure in Minnesota.
Certified as a Family NursePractitioner (FNP).
Ability to maintain active clinical practice as a Family NursePractitioner, averaging one day per week.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience in online, hybrid, and/or in-person modality
Graduate-level course teaching experience
Demonstrated commitment to values of healthcare for all with transcultural experience and skills
Experience in leadership within nursing practice

* Promotes positive health behaviors and instructs clients in self-care skills.

About this position

What we'll expect from you -
* Minimum one year in clinical practice as a PMNHP.
* Assembles a complete medical database, including health history, history of chief complaint, physical examination upon customer admission for selected customers, and documents the findings in the customer record.
* Assesses selected customers using physically and technologically derived data, including the evaluation of diagnostic test results, and documents assessments in the customer record. Recognizes normal and abnormal findings.
* In consultation with physician collaborators, establishes a diagnosis, plans medical therapeutics and interventions, and makes referrals to other disciplines based on the medical database.
* Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapeutics, and therapies within the collaborative agreement established with a physician(s) collaborator and based on established competencies.
* Evaluates and analyzes customers' responses to disease processes and therapeutic interventions, and determines the effectiveness of care and the need to alter the plan of care.
* Communicates effectively with customers' families and other key customer groups.
* Presents selected customer assessments, diagnoses and plans of care during medical team conferences and/or rounds.
* Collaborates with members of the health care team to implement and evaluate holistic customer care delivery.
* Serves as a resource to members of the health care team to facilitate customer delivery by using an indepth behavioral health knowledge base.

Perform pregnancy confirmation and introduction of pregnant patients into the prenatal program at the clinic and provide prenatal care in coordination with physicians.
Perform system examination of patients with specific acute complaints or stable chronic illnesses, initiate treatment for identified conditions according to written protocol, and work closely with clinic physicians in referring patients with significant abnormal findings.
Provide appropriate level of clinical and educational services as needed and scheduled at off-site locations, such as WIC clinics, public housing clinics, or other community sites.
Provide in a variety of settings patient education that is age and condition appropriate. Education can be done 1:1 or in a group, including parenting, prenatal, family planning, preventive health, and disease specific (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, asthma).
Participate in performance improvement (PI) projects; by peer review, auditing activities, and other PI activities as assigned by the Medical Director.
Aid the Medical Director on epidemiological issues pertinent to the health center and contribute as needed to the development of the annual Health Care Plan.
Obtain the minimum hours of continuing medical education as required by the State licensing board. Additional continuing medical education or practice-related education is encouraged.
Maintain chart documentation, tracking and reporting systems as indicated for continuity of care. Participate in the on-call schedule as appropriate and as assigned by the Medical Director.
Serve as a preceptor to nursepractitioner students as appropriate to level of experience as a NursePractitioner.
The employee must demonstrate competencies applicable to the position.
Primary work site is the Selby Clinic, but employee will provide services where needed in accordance with the leadership directives.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of nursepractitioner principles and techniques.
Knowledge of methods ensuring safe working environment for patients, family and staff including using appropriate personal protection equipment.
Demonstrated ability in the provision of care within field boundaries.
Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care.
Skill in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Ability to manage conflict appropriately
Ability to assess a situation, consider alternatives and choose an appropriate course of action.
Ability to participate effectively as a team member by supporting change, decisions, and other staff, and by managing conflict appropriately.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Graduated from an accredited school of nursing
Possess a current Minnesota RN license
Master's degree in nursing
Board certification from an accredited association
Meet credentialing requirements
Possess a strong community health/public health orientation
