Attention all NursePractitioners, we are calling you to partner with us as independent contractors providing services to our Military Service members. We primarily work weekends, with some occasional weekdays under the Reserve Health Readiness Program (RHRP) in the State of on an "as needed basis".
We provide health readiness services to meet the medical and dental requirements to maintain a deployable military force for the following:
U.S. Army Reserve (USAR)
Army National Guard (ARNG)
U.S. Navy Reserve (USNR)
U.S. Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES)
U.S. Coast Guard Reserve (USCGR)
Air National Guard (ANG)
U.S. Air Force Reserve (USAFR)
Responsibilities:
Support Physical Health Assessments of military personnel.
Review health history, service member medical records, and medical questionnaires.
Interview military personnel to determine current and prior medical concerns.
Identify any concerns that need to be addressed immediately, inclusive of Behavioral Health.
Document interview results for readiness classification in the service member's medical record using the proprietary system.
Requirements

Active NP license in the state
CPR/BLS Certification
Experience with Primary Care, Urgent Care or Occupational Health - preferred
Experience with mobile medical services - preferred
Knowledge of Military systems, protocols, and terminology - preferred

Able to work extended hours
Able to work in various locations, including remote military installations

Under the general supervision of a Physician and direction of the Executive Director, the NursePractitioner provides a wide range of primary health care services within the Student Health Center (SHC) including assessment, diagnostic, and preventive and health maintenance services at the Palm Desert Campus. The incumbent works under the supervision of a physician using established standardized procedures and/or process protocols. The NursePractitioner collaborates with the SHC Executive Director and their supervising Physician(s) to develop standardized procedures and/or process protocols and scope of practice for their position. The incumbent provides a wide range of primary health care services, such as conducting physical examinations; diagnosing, treating, and managing illnesses and injuries; ordering tests and interpreting the results; and counseling patients on preventive care. This position is primarily located at the Palm Desert campus and may work occasionally on the San Bernardino campus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conducts comprehensive physical exams and obtains detailed medical histories
Diagnoses and treats common acute and chronic conditions, including reproductive health issues
Provides medication abortion services and counseling on STIs, contraception, and pregnancy
Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests and lab work
Offers psychosocial assessments and referrals as needed
Administers first aid, urgent care, and emergency support
Prescribes medications and educates patients on treatment plans and preventive care
Performs minor procedures (e.g., suturing, biopsies, wound care, immunizations)
Maintains accurate medical records and ensures continuity of care
Collaborates with physicians and healthcare professionals on complex cases

Minimum Qualifications: Required Education and Experience
Education and Experience: Academic degree or certificate from an approved college or university-based NursePractitioner program or equivalent training and experience as outlined by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN). Incumbents must be clinically competent in a medical specialty applicable to their position and possess sufficient experience to independently perform the duties of a NursePractitioner within that specialty.
License and Certifications: Possess and maintain a valid California license as a Registered Nurse and a BRN certificate evidencing that the individual is qualified to use the title of NursePractitioner, as required by the California Board of Registered Nursing. In addition, if the incumbent is delegated the authority to furnish medications, the incumbent must possess and maintain a valid BRN Furnishing Certificate. If the furnishing procedures include the delegated authority to furnish specific controlled substances, incumbents must also possess and maintain a valid DEA number and certificate.
Required Qualifications
Comprehensive knowledge of advanced nursing and primary care principles, methods and procedures; thorough knowledge of medical theories, practices and protocols relative to the scope of practice, subject areas such as growth and development, pathophysiology, psychosocial assessment, pharmacology, nutrition, disease management, and the principles of health maintenance, applicable state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to practice as a NursePractitioner; and general knowledge of effective supervisory principles and practices, if assigned lead work direction.
Possess the abilities and clinical competence required to work as a NursePractitioner including, but not limited to, the ability to work independently in assigned areas of practice established by the supervising physician; demonstrate clinical competence in eliciting patient histories, conducting examinations, diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses and injuries, assessing patient needs and making appropriate referrals; use clinical techniques and diagnostic tools; interpret laboratory and other test results; keep current with developments in the medical field pertinent to the incumbent's scope of practice; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other health center staff; be sensitive to and communicate effectively with diverse patients; and, if assigned, provide lead work direction to specified health center support staff.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $58.00 - $65.00 per hour
Classification Salary Range: $27.39 - $100.10 per hour
The salary offered will take into account internal equity and experience among other factors.

Core Competencies: Possess critical thinking skills, in-depth knowledge of clinical disease entities common to Hospice, Home Health, transitional care management and palliative care including the pathophysiology, disease progression, pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment modalities for palliative care, in-depth knowledge of the philosophy, the Medicare benefit, and Conditions of Participation.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
