There are two maternal-fetal medicine specialists on staff and the hospital offers a full range of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties. As one of our NNPs, you will provide in-house coverage caring for critically ill neonates and attend high-risk deliveries. NNP's take ownership of their own team of patients (up to 20) with all acuity levels. The shifts are 24 hours with an occasional 12-hour shift available. Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Thorough knowledge of the principles, standards, practices and techniques related to Psychiatry and nursing; Thorough knowledge of the characteristics and precautions to be taken in the administration of psychotropic medication; Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques related to individual therapy, counseling practices and risk assessment for the mentally ill; Thorough knowledge of individual management guidelines for Virginia; thorough knowledge of the laws and legal procedures relating to hospital admission; Thorough knowledge of community resources hospitalization options, treatment providers and other agencies in service to the mentally ill population; Ability to prepare and maintain patient medical records and prepare reports in compliance with licensure regulations; Ability to conduct effective interviews, observe, assess and record individual behaviors and functioning and develop treatment and service plans; Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver's license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to clients at other locations. Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites; Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
