Key Responsibilities:

Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute, a part of Atrium Health, is looking for a full-time Nocturnist Cardiology Acute Care NP or PA to provide quality care to the patients we serve in the Greater Charlotte community at Carolinas Medical Center. The APP will be part of a team of specialized cardiology MDs and APPs. The APP will direct in-hospital care and perform medical acts both independently and in collaboration with on-call physicians. The nightshift APP will cover all cardiology specialty services- including General Cardiology, Electrophysiology (EP), Interventional/Structural Heart, and Heart Failure/VAD/Transplant- as well as the Cardiac ICU. The APP will triage and perform consults and admissions, collect, synthesize, and document data, order appropriate laboratory studies and diagnostic testing, and consult other services when appropriate. The APP should be competent in taking medical histories, assessing medical conditions of patients, interpreting findings, and formulating an assessment and plan independently. The APP should possess the ability to maintain quality assurance and quality control standards. The APP should be able to implement effective communication skills with both patients and colleagues that demonstrate a commitment to consistently providing an excellent patient experience for every patient.
CARDIOLOGY AGACNP or PA:
Evaluate new admissions and consults efficiently. Perform an accurate history and physical exam. Document thoroughly and efficiently in the electronic medical record.
Diagnose and treat conditions in the cardiovascular population.
Order and facilitate indicated testing; including lab work, ECGs, echocardiograms, stress tests, MRIs, CTs, and cardiac catheterizations. Explain risks and benefits of procedures to the patient and family.
Has the ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately.
Work closely with inpatient teams and sign out patients to appropriate services at the end of each shift.
Participate in evaluations with the primary supervising physician as directed by State laws.
Maintain ACLS and BLS certification as well as all licenses and certifications as mandated by the Hospital Credentialing Committee.
Exhibits respect for others by displaying a positive, courteous attitude at all times.
Participates in staff meetings, in-services, and continuing education for job related growth.
Shifts: NIGHT SHIFT; 7p-7a, approximately 12 shifts/ month. Rotating weekends and holidays.
Position Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program. Current license to practice as a NP or PA in North Carolina. Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required. BLS/ACLS Certified.

This position will not be office-based but will be remote in state in which employed and will need to attend periodic training/meetings outside of that state
Deliver evidence-based, timely care in a manner that reduces avoidable hospitalizations, maximizes quality of life, and puts patient health and satisfaction first
Prescribe medications, order tests, and collaborate with patient's Monogram physician
Perform effectively, as reflected by improved patient quality outcomes, which will be measured and reported daily
Facilitates closing gaps in care by educating patients about preventive monitoring and working with physician practices to schedule diagnostic testing
Assists patients with enrolling to access educational videos
Participates in the integrated care team meetings
Knowledge of disease diagnosis and prevention
Make assessment of patient's health status
Develop treatment plan
Implement a plan consistent with appropriate plan of care
Follow-up and evaluate patient's status
Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse and NursePractitioner or Physician Assistant license
Board certified for appropriate licensure (NP: ANCC/AANP; PA: NCCPA)
Current and unrestricted DEA certificate
Ability to work without direct supervision and practice autonomously
Access to transportation, a valid driver's license, and car insurance
Must be proficient with medical instruments and equipment required by the work
Knowledge of computer-based data management programs and information systems, as well as medical records and point-of-interview technology
Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form with retail and medical partners at various levels, patients, family members, physicians and representatives of the community
Sound understanding of all federal and state regulations including HIPAA and OSHA
2 or more years of direct patient care required
Managed Care/IPA/Health Plan experience
Experience conducting annual wellness visits or similar comprehensive visits virtually or in the home
