The physician will perform all the duties of a clinical hematologist and medical oncologist with a commitment of 100% clinical effort (80% direct patient care and 20% indirect care/ administrative time). The physician will care for patients with a wide variety of hematological and oncologic disorders. The position is based at the Folsom Office Building (FOB) which opens 9/1/2025, and the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCDCCC), but in times of need, the incumbent might be asked to see patients at other UCDH clinics. This will be with consultation and agreement.

Department Overview
The Division of Hematology Oncology is one of 14 divisions in the Department of Internal Medicine, in the School of Medicine, at UC Davis Health. Hematology Oncology includes approximately 35 faculty (physician and research), seven MSP physicians, 13 advanced practice providers and other clinical staff, 25 research staff and nine administrative/ financial staff. Division ambulatory clinical services are located in the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center in Sacramento, C Street Clinic in Sacramento, the Placer Health Center in Rocklin and the new Cancer Clinic in Folsom.
Department Specific Job Scope
During the day, the physician will see patients in the clinic and evaluate and initiate therapy for those patients. The physician will be scheduled in person for six half-days/week outpatient clinic and one half-day/week (based on patient demand) virtual visits at Folsom Center for Health (or hybrid if there isn?t sufficient patient demand for a full half-day of video visits). Additionally, the physician will be scheduled one half-day/week at UCDCCC. On average, the physician may see four to eight patients per four-hour clinic session (expectation is one new patient and six follow up patients per half-day, which may start as four new patients per half-day and could be eight follow up patients per half-day as the practice is established).
The Folsom Center for Health and UCDCCC are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday, during which time, the physician is expected to be on-site and available for patients during his/her scheduled clinic activities. The physician's time will be allocated as 100% clinical effort (this includes time needed for completion of medical records, timely follow-up messages, and care coordination) The physician will have two half-days/week of administrative/non-patient facing time.
Additionally, the physician will see patients at Folsom Center for Health 10 to 12 full-day Saturdays/year, with two consecutive four-hour sessions on the same Saturday.

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative NursePractitioner or Physician Assistant (Advanced Practice Practitioner, APP) specialized in Endocrinology and Obesity Medicine to join our innovative, multidisciplinary chronic disease management team. This new role will involve using a lifestyle and obesity medicine approach to prevent and treat cardiometabolic conditions including comprehensive diabetes management.
The majority of your patient population will primarily focus on obesity/diabetes management across the full spectrum of disease, including Type 1, Type 2, post-transplant, and other complex secondary forms of diabetes (ex steroid-induced, 2nd to pancreatic disease, Cystic fibrosis related, MODY, etc). Endocrine APPs will help enhance the consistency, safety, and effectiveness of patient care across the newly formed endocrine team, specifically integrating the use of Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs), complex insulin regimens, and insulin pump therapy.
This is a full-time position based in a remote, telemedicine clinical setting. The APP will work closely with a supportive care team and have protected time for supervision, teaching, and administrative duties.
What You Will Do:
* Provide direct patient care in a telemedicine clinical setting, focusing on evidence-based treatment for obesity and comprehensive diabetes management, including titration of insulin and advanced use of diabetes technology (CGMs/pumps).
* Collaborate with Endocrinologist colleagues and Registered Dietitians specializing in diabetes treatment to co-manage a shared patient panel.
* Review charts and conduct return visits for patients to ensure quality, continuity of care, and appropriate management of CKD/ESRD and CAD/CV conditions.
* Provide advanced treatment planning and medical management support for complex endocrinology cases, escalated concerns, and patients requiring specialized management protocols.
* Prescribe non-controlled medications, including those for obesity and diabetes, for patients under both direct care and in coordination with Endocrinology collaborators.
* Conduct weekly 30 minute collaborative meetings and 30 min asynchronous communication time with collaborating physicians to review cases, address clinical challenges, and provide ongoing support.
* Ensure clinical documentation, protocols, and treatment pathways are followed consistently within the team, with a focus on guidelines for managing complex diabetic populations.
* Assist in the professional development of colleagues by fostering clinical growth, offering feedback, and supporting continuing education in both endocrinology and obesity medicine.
* Participate in team-based care initiatives and contribute to a culture of collaboration and high-quality care.
* Attend relevant departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement efforts within the diabetes and obesity medicine program.
About You:
* Required: at least 2 years practicing advanced diabetes management, including the use of CGMs, insulin pumps, and complex insulin regimens, able to sign a collaboration agreement with an Endocrinologist
* Preferred: OMA certification (CAEOM) or demonstrated clinical experience in obesity medicine (including older generation oral OMMs and newer injectable medications).
* Demonstrated competency and comfort in managing patients with complex co-morbidities, including CKD, ESRD, and CAD/CV conditions.
* Experience delivering telemedicine care with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Adherence to evidence-based treatments, behavioral interventions, nutrition, and pharmacotherapy for both endocrine disorders and obesity.

COMPENSATION
Placement on the District's Faculty Salary Schedule is dependent upon years of experience and level of education. Entry-level is from $77.44 per hour (Lecture Rate)/$58.08 per hour (Lab/Counselor Rate) to $98.98 per hour (Lecture Rate)/$74.24 per hour (Lab/Counselor Rate) at the time of employment. The current highest salary attainable after employment is $127.21 per hour (Lecture Rate)/$95.41 per hour (Lab/Counselor Rate). Job Summary and Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The incumbent is responsible for providing direct health care services for electrophysiology (EP) patients. This role provides services to streamline and expedite the flow of patients having electrophysiology procedures. The care provided consists of evaluation of normal and abnormal findings, initiation of treatments, and coordination of admissions and discharges. The EP NP performs these functions in accordance with the Standardized Procedures approved by the Mercy General Hospital Committees for Credentials, Interdisciplinary Practice, and Cardiology. A more specific description of the EP NP includes:
Entering pre/post procedure orders
Facilitating/triaging/consulting transfer patients being evaluated for potential procedure
Collaborating with cardiac electrophysiologists on new consults and existing patient treatment plans
Receiving report from the electrophysiologist on cases being followed to discharge
Managing patients who have unexpected complications post procedure (e.g., hematomas, pressure problems, etc)
Meeting with patients post procedure and providing education and counseling as needed
Completing Incision/dressing management
Performing device interrogations
Performing EP consults
Discharging patients from Cardiac Interventional Unit and Cardiac Support Unit (including medication reconciliation) and completing a brief progress note if any medications were changed or complications encountered
Program coverage is 6 days a week (Monday through Saturday)
Job Requirements

Current California RN License
Current CaliforniaNursePractitioner RN License
Current BLS & ACLS Certifications through American Heart Assocation (AHA)
Masters degree in nursing and certification as a nursepractitioner.
