Abbreviations must be only those listed in local instructions. Duties - Specific. Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. The HCW shall provide services within the scope of the clinical privileges granted by the MTF Director, the applicable duties provided in the basic contract, and the following: Provide comprehensive medical assessment, examination, consultation, diagnosis, and treatment plan for neonates, under the direction of a staff Pediatrician. Provide medical management of critically ill neonates in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and other areas to include neonatal resuscitation, conventional ventilation, stabilize and maintain Level III care prior to transport, prescription of medications (including controlled substances), to treat neonatal medical disorders, under direction of a staff neonatologist. Request and interpret laboratory tests, electrocardiograms, and radiographic procedures, and other tests as needed under the direction of staff Pediatricians. Perform procedures including sedation, endotracheal intubation, routine phlebotomy, arterial phlebotomy, percutaneous central venous line placement, umbilical line placement, lumbar puncture, suprapubic bladder taps, bladder catheterization, needle thoracentesis, chest tube placement, circumcision as deemed appropriate under the Government supervision of the staff Pediatrician. Attend routine and high-risk deliveries as a member of the Resuscitation Team and perform Neonatal Resuscitation. Provide medical care to neonates awaiting transport to other facilities and from other higher level of care neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), under direction of a staff Pediatrician. Provide outpatient care for routine well baby appointments and NICU follow-up appointments. Qualifications Degree: Master's degree in nursing Education: Graduate from an academic program, within the nursing specialty field of study that is accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Have successfully completed at least twelve (12) contact hours of continuing NNP education within the preceding twenty-four (24) months which maintains skills and knowledge as an NNP. Certifications Certified in the specialty required by the TO as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate (for example, National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses, American Nurses Association, National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Specialties). Possess and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support Possess and maintain current certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner from the National Certification Corporation (NCC). Possess and maintain a Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP) certification as recognized by the American Board of Pediatrics. Possess and maintain a Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Experience: Possess a minimum of one (1) year full-time experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner within the preceding two (2) years. Possess a minimum of one (1) year broad experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Level 3 NICUs and experience in both the newborn nursery and delivery room setting within the last two (2) years. Licensure: Possess and maintain Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse Additional Requirements: Provide two (2) letters of recommendation written within the last two (2) years attesting to the HCW's clinical skills. At least one (1) letter must be from a physician or nurse who has personally observed and evaluated the HCW and who can attest to the HCW's clinical competence in the care of patients. The other letter may be from a clinic or hospital administrator, physician or nurse who has personal knowledge of the HCW's patient care skills in a similar clinical environment. Reference letters shall attest to the HCW's communication skills and ability to relate to patients as well as professional and other interpersonal skills among staff members and must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference. Letters of recommendation must have been written within the preceding three (3) years. Ability to complete favorable background check Ability to complete favorable credentialing and security requirements Ability to complete Medical requirements Computer Skill Competency: Each HCW shall demonstrate competency as required in the contract and as follows: Basic This level of skills is sufficient to perform daily word processing tasks, such as, producing routine letters, memorandums, and informal reports. A person with this level of skills is able to use basic formatting, editing, printing functions, and understands the document page setup. The person has the skills to: Create a new document, enter text, and save it. Open and edit existing documents. Navigate in a document and perform a search. Select and move text. Format characters and paragraphs; work with tabs, indents, margins, lists, breaks, spacing. Use AutoCorrect and Help tools. Create and edit tables. Control page and document appearance. Print documents, envelopes, and labels. Clinical Competency: Each HCW requesting clinical privileges shall be required to demonstrate clinical competency within the past two years in the required clinical discipline as specified in this PWS.
