Novastar Prep is seeking an Academic Talent Recruiter to strengthen our nationwide tutor pipeline and bring in exceptional educators from a wide range of backgrounds. This role focuses on proactive recruiting; finding great tutors, engaging them, and guiding them through a clean and organized hiring process.
You will source talent from top 30 universities, graduate students, and subject-matter experts. This includes a focused outreach to selective institutions such as Harvard, Georgetown, Brown, MIT, Princeton, Yale, Columbia, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, Duke, University of Chicago, and other strong schools nationwide.
The ideal candidate is self-driven, organized, and passionate about finding great people who will make an impact on students' lives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Recruiting & Outreach
Recruit tutors across all subjects: K-12 core subjects, AP/IB, SAT/ACT, writing, STEM, foreign languages, elementary specialization, and more.
Build and maintain consistent pipelines from top universities, graduate programs, competitive majors, and high-performing educators.
Develop sourcing channels through LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed, Glassdoor, Handshake, university job boards, academic societies, and teaching forums.
Conduct proactive outreach campaigns to attract high-quality candidates, not just rely on inbounds.
University Relations & Event Sourcing
Engage with career centers, student groups, academic departments, and graduate programs at selective institutions.
Represent Novastar Prep at job fairs, virtual recruiting events, university showcases, and academic webinars.
Create ongoing relationships that produce long-term talent pipelines.
Screening & Candidate Experience
Manage the full cycle of screening within the ATS: resume review, phone screens, documentation collection, interview scheduling, next-step communication, and onboarding.
Maintain excellent notes and clean workflow tracking so hiring managers know exactly where each candidate stands.
Deliver a professional and positive applicant experience that reflects our standards.
Internal Collaboration
Work closely with internal teams to understand subject-area needs, seasonal hiring cycles, and program requirements.
Flag high-priority candidates quickly and adjust sourcing strategies based on real-time needs.
Operational Excellence
Ensure all recruiting activity is documented clearly, consistently, and on time.
Maintain a predictable weekly cadence of sourcing, outreach, screening, and pipeline reporting.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in recruiting, talent sourcing, university outreach, HR coordination, or related experience.
BA required; MS/MA preferred, especially in education, human resources, or related fields
Strong familiarity with job boards, LinkedIn tools, and modern sourcing methods.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume pipelines.
A genuine interest in education, student success, and academic excellence.
