We have a Women's Center with a level 3 NICU. RTs will attend deliveries and care for babies who are admitted to the NICU receiving respiratory care

We perform inpatient EKGs on the general care floors, occasionally outpatient (shared service with cardiology)
We manage GE Carescape R860 vents, Servo I vents, Drager VN500 and HFOV NICU vents, Phillips V60, Bubble CPAP, REMstar CPAP, Smart Vest, and Airvo
We perform bronchoscopy assistance with Glidescope disposable bronchs
Opportunity to cross-train on EEGs, PFTs and NICU

Job Summary:
This is a position within the setting of clinical research for individuals who are participating in clinical trials. The Patient Care Technician I advocates for clients, ensuring that the clients psychosocial needs are being addressed while participating in clinical trials and assists with retention of clients in research.
Schedule: 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, 3 days a week, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
Hourly Range: $19.00 - $20.00 (Depending on education, experience, and skillset)
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Assess research participants' current psychosocial needs and identify the case management needs.
Assisting clients with discharge planning as needed.
Set key goals to be accomplished with the research participants during their inpatient stay by working with each client to identify and prioritize needs and assisting with needs as relevant.
Completing Discharge Summaries for client discharging from the CRU (Clinical Research Unit). Ensuring that all information, medications, follow-up appointments are accurate, and informing treatment providers, care providers, family, referral sources of discharge.
Coordinating transportation for discharge, appointments off unit (visit to SSI office, interview for housing), doctor appointments and ensuring all calendars are updated with necessary information.
Assisting clients with other miscellaneous needs while on the unit (paying rent, paying bills, checking in with probation officers, purchasing items to maintain ADLs, obtaining clothes from shelters etc.)
Coordinating, supervising and documenting family meetings, case manager visits to the CRU.
Assisting with completion of applications for healthcare coverage, social security and food stamps.
Develop relationships with the representatives in other agencies to support research participants in attaining services such as housing, additional mental health care, medication, medical resources, financial assistance, legal advocacy, or other as needed.
Develop and manage weekly groups with inpatient clients focusing on psychosocial needs.
Updating database upon discharge from CRU and/or study termination to ensure all information about subject (i.e disposition, medication, insurance, etc) is accurate and current.

* PROVISION OF CARE: Responsible for the daily coordination of patient care duties under the direct supervision of a Nurse and Therapist: Assist with activities of daily living for patients as an integral part of the patient's treatment, assisting with admissions and discharges, performing safety checks per physician orders, assisting with obtaining patient's vital signs Accucheck checks and reporting to the nurses, and assisting with de-escalation of patients on the unit. MHT II will supervise patients during program hours (monitoring hallways, day areas, cafeteria, group rooms, patient rooms, gym, time outs, reflection areas, courtyard, seclusions, and restraints) Establishes and maintains positive relationships with patients, physicians, allied health professionals, and all referral sources. Facilitation and Co-facilitation of group sessions (including the following, but not limited to: Psychoeducation, Recreation therapy, Community and Wrap-Up groups), assisting in development and implementation of the unit schedule and programming for identified patient population. Provides a therapeutic environment with patient at all times to include application of de-escalation techniques and limit setting prior to, during and after a period of Time-out, Reflection, Seclusion and/or Restraint. Performs therapeutic holds and assists with seclusion restraints as needed. Attends debriefings on patients as needed Effectively understands and operates equipment appropriate to the departments scope of care and patient population such as Computers on Wheels, a Standing Scale, Vital Sign Machine, and an Accucheck Monitor. Facilitation of Specimen Collection as per Physicians Order and under the supervision of an RN. Aides the Nursing staff in monitoring patients and performing mouth checks during medication administration times. Knowledgeable and effectively participates in special procedures and skills appropriate to the departments scope of service and patient population

Definitions
* To assist with day to day management of patient(s) on an inpatient psychiatric unit under direction of a Registered Nurse, and ultimately a Nurse Manager. The mental health tech will assist with activities of daily living for patients unable to perform these activities. The mental health tech will be an integral part of the patient's treatment and assist with group activities which may include co-facilitation of group activities under direction of the therapist nursing staff. The mental health tech will assist with collection vital signs, patient information, and accuchecks. He/she is responsible for the 15-minute safety checks and assists in de-escalation of patients on the unit.
