Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Mental Health Tech, you will be vital support for Behavioral Health's front and back office functions, assisting psychiatrists, patients, and the care management team. You'll ensure smooth operations, quality medication management, and clinical problem-solving.
Every day you will provide basic medication triage, support services, and take vital signs for behavioral health patients. You'll manage front office reception, patient registration, insurance/copay processing, and telephones, while also handling back office tasks like refill requests, injections, and accurate EHR documentation.
To be successful, you need strong multitasking, meticulous attention to detail, and a rapid ability to learn complex information accurately. Exceptional customer service, calm under pressure, EHR proficiency, and strict confidentiality are essential, along with flexibility to float.
Assists patients through a trauma informed care atmosphere in the development of individuality and appropriate methods of self-expression through promoting an environment in which the patient can problem-solve and test out new behaviors.
Assists the patients in acknowledging and accepting responsibility for psychological and behavioral patterns through providing feedback and positive reinforcement, consistently applying program rights and regulations, behavior modification program and communicating in an appropriate manner with the patients.
Provides appropriate emergency care and maintains a safe environment. Maintains a secure environment and acts as a resource for emergency situations. Performs basic nursing tasks (i.e. but not limited to: vital signs, blood pressure, specimen collection, accu checks, weighing and assisting with ADL). Assists the nurse in carrying out orders that are within the scope of practice.
Provides trauma informed care and supervision to patients needing physical restraints or seclusion.
Assists the patient in dealing with relationship difficulties, supports and teaches appropriate socializations skills. Facilitates Its various supportive, classroom educational (where appropriate) and psych-educational activities.
Communicates effectively utilizing both verbal and writing methods within a diverse and multicultural environment. Maintains appropriate communication networks and harmonious working relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team and other departments, through participating in staff meetings, quality assurance activities, safety, security and infection control programs, program development and implementation and all additional training assigned by leadership.

Check-in with the outgoing CNA at the beginning of your shift to get a report on your patients.
Conduct hourly rounds on patients, checking vitals, maintaining whiteboard information, and assisting with care as needed.
Assist patients with ambulation as necessary. This may mean helping them reach a recliner in their room, walk to the bathroom, or down the hall. Assist released patients in getting safely to their vehicles outside.
Assist patients with hygiene needs. This can include a full bed bath, an assisted bed bath, or retrieving towels and soap for ambulatory patients.
Help the bedside nurse with tube insertions such as an NG tube, rectal tube, or catheter. You may be holding a cup of water, holding the patient, or providing the nurse with supplies as needed and cleaning up after.
Help the bedside nurse with any wound checks or dressing changes. This may mean holding the patient or supplies and cleaning up after.
Change bed linens, check patients' weight, and other tasks as assigned each day.

Observe and report the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdowns to prevent decubitus ulcers (bedsores).
Report injuries of an unknown source, including skin tears.
Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures and as instructed by your supervisors.
Follow work assignments and/or work schedules in completing and performing your assigned tasks.
Cooperate with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other Community personnel, to ensure that nursing services can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.
Monitor nursing care to ensure that all residents are treated fairly, and with kindness, dignity, and respect.
