The Medical Transcriptionist under the direction of the Medical Transcription Supervisor performs the daily activities of transcribing pathology reports from digital voice dictation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Return dictated reports in electronic form for physician's review, signature, and corrections, and for inclusion in patients' medical records. Review and edit transcribed reports or dictated material for spelling, grammar, clarity, consistency, and proper medical terminology. Transcribe dictation by pathologists and histological staff regarding the gross and microscopic descriptions and diagnosis of anatomic pathology. Distinguish between homonyms and recognize inconsistencies and mistakes in medical terms, referring to dictionaries, drug references, and other sources on anatomy and, physiology. Translate medical terminology and abbreviations into their expanded forms to ensure the accuracy of patient and health care facility records. Identify mistakes in reports and check with doctors to obtain the correct information. How you will change lives As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at US Renal Care, you will be an integral part of a cross-functional team providing care and delegated activities of treatment to patients. The PCT will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Charge Nurse (CN) for patients with renal failure. What you'll be doing Patient care. You will work directly with patients to provide safe, comfortable, and high-quality dialysis treatment. Responsibilities include gathering patient stats before and after treatment, initiating treatment, monitoring patients during treatment, terminating treatment, and collecting patient blood samples per physician orders. Greets and directs patients and visitors, and orients patients to the unit. 15. Answers telephone calls, responds to routine inquiries and relays other calls and messages. Responds to patients' intercom calls and notifies appropriate personnel of patient's requests. 16. Contacts physician directly or through the hospital paging system, as requested by authorized personnel. Notifies physicians of patient room numbers, clarifies orders, etc. 17. Responsible for knowing the lifting requirements of the job and requesting assistance when appropriate. 18. As a Hospital Corpsman, youll get to try your hand at just about everything while making a huge difference for the Sailors you serve. RESPONSIBILITIES Hospital Corpsmen (HM) assist health care professionals in providing medical care to Navy personnel and their families. They may function as clinical or specialty technicians, medical administrative personnel and healthcare providers at medical treatment facilities.
