General Comments Must have GNA license in state of Maryland Position Description The Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) performs direct patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintains patient confidentiality of all residents Assists residents with activities of daily living and feeding Performs transfers and lifts per facility protocol Completes timely and thorough documentation in the facility EMR charting system Provides support and companionship to patients Assists residents with use of assistive devices Safeguards the client/patient by observing appropriate infection control procedures including but not limited to universal precautions Notifies the supervising nurse of any abnormal findings or conditions Cleans and organizes patient rooms Assists with putting away residents laundry and belongings Assists nurse with admission and discharge/s to unit Prepares patients for appointments or transfers Minimum Requirements: Active CNA with Geriatric Certification, required Experience with memory care patients, preferred Prefer one year of geriatric nursing assistant experience as a certified nursing assistant within the last three years. Graduate from certified nursing assistant program with subsequent documentation as a certified nursing assistant per state requirements with proof of verification as being an active certification and having the ability to be work with geriatrics per state requirements. • Knowledge of medical terminology and knowledge of clerical functions.
