POSITION SUMMARY
Provides general patient care and basic patient education as directed by providers. • Maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
• Educate patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper

• Prepare and process laboratory samples and tests using established protocols.
• Coordinates paperwork for provider that may be needed for referrals, prior authorizations for
medications, and diagnostic testing as needed.
• Performs testing including but not limited to lab draws, EKGs, PFTs, drug screens, etc.

• Enter nursing charges and patient related information into electronic health record software.
• Enter patient information into sample medication log sheets and other assigned log sheets.
• Reviews patient charts, checks in patient, obtain, and record all patient vital signs, histories
(allergies, medication, medical surgical, family, and social). Reconciles medication and states
initial reason for patient's visit.
• Directly addresses patient care gaps with patients during visits and between visits by using
patient lists to review and act on overdue preventive care needs.
• Participates in quality improvement efforts as evidenced by providing feedback on projects and
making suggestions for future improvements.
• Records and reports observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient's
conditions.
• Administers medications and immunizations as per standard of administration and documents
in electronic health record.
• Actively participants in in-service education programs as required by practice.
• Maintains and stocks inventory of office and/or clinical supplies as appropriate to position.
• Reports any incidents, maintenance issues, unsafe conditions and/or good catches to supervisor.

Role and Responsibilities
As a Medical Assistant at Functional Medicine of Idaho, you will play a key role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting the clinical team. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Patient Care: Responsible for patient interactions, including taking vitals, collecting test samples, and maintaining accurate patient health records and history.
Work closely with pediatric providers to support exams, procedures, and treatments
Accurately obtain and document pediatric vital signs, including:
Temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure
Growth measurements: Weight, height/length, and head circumference for infants
Administer medications to pediatric patients including injections, as directed
Chart Preparation: Ensure patient charts are prepared accurately, assisting with opening and closing responsibilities as directed.
Clinical Team Collaboration: Actively participate in daily morning clinical team huddles to ensure seamless communication and planning.
Room Preparation: Clean and prepare examination rooms before patient appointments, ensuring a sterile and organized environment.
Communication: Maintain daily communication with the patient care team and clinical staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations throughout the day.
Patient Inquiries: Respond to patient inquiries in the patient portal (MBHQ), assist with faxing scripts and referrals on a case-by-case basis.
Inventory Management: Assist the nurse and office manager in maintaining medical inventory, and place orders for new supplies and materials as needed.
Flexibility: Be flexible to complete tasks and additional responsibilities as requested by your next-level supervisor.
Qualification and/or Work Experience Requirements
High school diploma or GED required.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (Required)
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Pediatric setting (Required)
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with functional and integrative medicine approaches
Understanding of nutrition and lifestyle interventions for pediatric care
Strong knowledge of child growth & development
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with both children and parents as well as team members
Ability to triage caregiver concerns and provide clinical guidance
Must be detail-oriented and highly organized.
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times (HIPAA compliant).
Software familiarity (MBHQ, Lab partners, Epic, Rupa, Vibrant Wellness, Galleri, Paylocity, Imaging)
