Under the supervision of the Surgical Supervisor, this position assists with the peri-operative care in a technical support staff function. Nature and Scope: serves a patient population of Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric.
This position works with and adapts to the different needs and requests of the management staff, circulating nurse, anesthesiologists, and surgeons.
This position assists the circulating nurse in the set-up and breakdown of equipment required before, during, and after each procedure, and reports any equipment malfunctions to the circulating nurse or Surgical Supervisor. This position sets up (but does not operate) the following equipment: anesthesia machine, monitoring equipment, bovie machine, suctions, craniotomy table, ortho tables, microscopes, tanks, and operating lights, and other related equipment.

6. Schedules patients for testing procedures. Obtains tests results and ensures that lab reports, x-rays, outside progress notes/medical records, and other information is in the medical record prior to the appointment.
7. Labels and maintains proper storage for specimens and tests.
8. Processes requests for prescription medication refills according to protocol.
9. Administers medications within scope of practice and training.
10. Cleans and disinfects room counters, exam tables and instruments after each use.
