Day to Day Responsibilities:
Conducts utilization management activities in accordance with Utilization Management policies and procedures. Responds to calls, conducts certification reviews, facilitates the discharge planning and referral process and coordinates denials with physician advisors for all assigned programs.
• Receives prospective & concurrent requests for service. Coordinates certification reviews for pre-admission, continued stay and retroactive reviews. Interprets and applies clinical information to make delivery decisions and determine appropriate level of care for utilization review activities. (50%)
• Follows departmental policies & procedures for review, determination & notification. Ensures day to day UM processes are conducted in accordance with NCQA, URAC and other regulatory standards. (15%)
• Maintains effective interactions/communication w/ outside providers to assure appropriate delivery of service to members. (10%)
• Reviews requests for medical necessity (referring cases to medical director that require additional expertise). Coordinate denials with physician advisors (10%)
• Documents all activities per APS policies and procedures. (15%)

• Working extended hours may be required as needed.

Looking for night shift travelers for adult med/surg units. Level 1 or 2 trauma experience and EPIC experience preferred. Must be able to start IVs, draw labs, monitor tele. Will be scheduled to work every other weekend and 2/3 major seasonal holidays. Excessive time off and set days of the week to work will not be approved.
Current New York State Registration. Certified in BLS and able to be recertified. Minimum of 2 years recent experience (within past 3 years) in an acute care facility of similar size and level as Hospital. Follow up re: need for bowel/med administration for residents on an individual basis. If concerns noted, follow-up with charge nurse.

Follow-up as needed with residents re: significant changes prior to or on prior shift. Notify DON/ADON of concerns. Contact MDs when needed for change in resident's clinical status or a need for orders based on resident complaints, lab results, etc.
Review resident care plans for appropriate resident goals, problems, approaches, and revisions based on nursing needs.
Ensure that nursing documentation is complete, accurate and completed within the appropriate time frames.
Participate in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and standards of resident care.
Monitors unit staff compliance with all facility and nursing department policies and procedures.
Plan for, coordinate, and facilitate resident admissions and transfers to respective nursing units.
Attend and participate in family conferences.
