The Nurse Aide Trainee in our Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) is an entry-level position designed to provide individuals with the necessary training and hands-on experience to become Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). Nurse Aide Trainees work under the supervision of experienced nursing staff and assist with direct patient care, daily activities, and various support tasks to ensure the well-being and comfort of residents.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care Assistance: Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding. Assist with mobility and transfers using proper lifting and positioning techniques. Observe and report any changes in residents' physical or mental condition to the nursing staff.
Vital Signs Monitoring: Learn to measure and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse rate, blood pressure, and respiration rate. Report any abnormal findings promptly to the nursing staff.
Documentation: Learn to maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of residents' care, activities, and changes in condition. Complete necessary forms, charts, and reports as required by the facility's policies and procedures.
Assisting with Care Procedures: Assist nursing staff with procedures such as dressing changes, toileting, and collection of specimens. Learn and follow infection control protocols to ensure a clean and safe environment.
Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Support: Learn to assist residents with their ADLs, including grooming, oral care, toileting, and ambulation. Encourage independence and self-care to the extent possible while providing necessary support and assistance.
Emotional Support: Develop the skills to build rapport with residents and provide emotional support. Listen to their concerns and provide reassurance and comfort. Foster a positive and compassionate environment for residents.
Safety Awareness: Learn and follow proper procedures for infection control, fall prevention, and emergency response. Understand and implement safety measures to ensure the well-being of residents.
Communication: Learn to communicate effectively with residents, their families, and the healthcare team. Provide updates on residents' conditions, concerns, and needs. Collaborate with nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
Compliance: Adhere to facility policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines. Follow all applicable laws and regulations related to patient care, privacy, and confidentiality.

Education

Responsibilities
Enhabit Hospice Nursing Aides assist with various personal care issues including changing bedding, changing clothing, bathing hospice patients and helping with hygienic routines such as brushing teeth, washing hair and keeping wound dressings clean and dry. • Provide prompt communication of changes in client medical status/emergencies to Nurse Supervisor resulting in effective management of cases
• Provide prompt communication of changes in clients/caregivers schedules (i.e. tardiness, vacation, requested time-off, change of status, reduction in hours, etc.) to Staffing Coordinators resulting in effective management of cases
• To drive/escort client to and from appointments/activities as requested, utilizing client vehicle, resulting in a safe and timely transport
• Call in to Staffing Coordinator to confirm weekly schedules resulting in required coverage being met
• Provide accurate and timely required documentation (i.e. declining to participate in all parts of Plan of Care) ensuring effective management of cases and DHR compliance
• Other duties as assigned or needed
Qualifications
