What Does A Nutrition Services Manager Do At Maine Veterans' Homes

* Responsibly manages and supervises all staff including scheduling, assignment, direction, performance review, hiring and corrective action consistent with company policy.
* Meet regularly with residents and family members to confirm that high satisfaction levels are maintained.
* Assist Kitchen staff with back and front of the house operations as needed.
* This includes the ability to work all stations in the kitchens and/or dining room if needed.
* Delegate tasks to all staff so that the kitchen and dining areas are maintained at the highest levels of cleanliness and quality at all times.
* Ensuring that all food is prepared, stored, and served according to Company standards and with state and/or local health code requirements.

* Complies with all OSHA regulations and other local, state and federal government regulations.

* Pour coffee and hot water
* Transport patient tray carts from the kitchenettes to the nursing units
* Check patient tray ticket/patient menu, against an updated census list for accuracy.
* Verify with nursing any diet type discrepancies that may be noted in the diet list comparison meal to meal
* Verify the patient's identity and pass correct meal tray to the patients
* Ability to handle patient related complaints, concerns, and needs
* Open food containers as needed, obtain any missing food item as needed for the patient
* Record patient's appetite/intake for nursing staff
* Collect soiled trays and place in cart following meal service
* Pull dirty tray carts to the elevator or kitchen as needed

* Working knowledge of CBORD menu printing system when functioning as Lead Ambassador
* Ability to access diet order and food allergies in Power chart when functioning as Lead Ambassador
* If needed, pick up late trays from the kitchen and deliver to the patient
* Obtain food preferences from patients and communicate information to the Nutrition Aides Office
* Deliver patient's nourishment/snack and tube feeding to assigned nursing units.
* Function as trayline loader when assigned or as needed
* Adheres to HACCP Guidelines; practices good sanitation techniques
* Other Duties and Responsibilities:
* Takes initiative to see what needs to be done and takes action to see that it is accomplished.
* Initiates and participates in Performance Improvement activities.
* Assists in the care and maintenance of department equipment; notifies Supervisor of any equipment problems.
* Demonstrates work schedule flexibility.
* Maintains a courteous, cooperative attitude towards co-workers, management, patients, visitors, physicians; assists them whenever possible.
* Attends mandatory Medical Center meetings, department meetings and in-services, and other programs, as appropriate.
* Practices safety and security as defined in the Medical Center and department policies and procedures.
* Maintains confidentiality of patient and employee information.
* Performs all other duties as assigned.
