Registered Dietitian
Nourish Santa Cruz 3.9
Remote nutritional consultant job
Background
Nourish is onboarding outstanding Registered Dietitians for both full-time and part-time roles. At Nourish, you'll provide evidence-based nutritional counseling via telehealth to patients matched to your clinical expertise and areas of interest. Our Clinical Support team will handle insurance, billing, and patient marketing so you can focus on providing the highest quality care for your patients.
We're seeking RDs who care deeply about helping patients, are excited to expand access to nutrition therapy across the country, and are committed to driving better outcomes through evidence-based care. Be part of our mission to help 100 million people live healthier, longer lives with Nourish.
About Us
After paying out-of-pocket for life-changing experiences working with RDs, our founding team became passionate about expanding access to nutritional care and advocating for RDs. Nutrition-related chronic disease is the largest and most overlooked crisis in the world - and food can be medicine. The evidence is clear: working with a Registered Dietitian is one of the most effective interventions available, yet fewer than 1% of eligible Americans use their covered benefits. At Nourish, our mission is to improve people's health by making it easy to eat well.
Since launching in 2021, Nourish has built a patient-friendly, tech-enabled healthcare platform centered on Registered Dietitians. With thousands of RDs delivering care across all 50 states, we use innovative technology to reduce administrative burdens, improve dietitians' day-to-day work, and connect patients with the right providers and resources to be successful. We've already helped hundreds of thousands of people improve outcomes at lower costs, enabling healthier, longer lives.
We are growing quickly, have raised $115M to date, and are backed by world-class healthcare founders and investors. You can read more about our recent Series B and how we will use it to accelerate our impact here.
Our Clinical Philosophy
Our approach to care is grounded in meeting patients where they are with empathy and kindness, using evidence-based practices to drive long-term behavioral change. Our RDs provide personalized, clinical-grade nutrition care to patients from any and all backgrounds. We measure quality of outcomes against each patient's individual goals, coordinate seamlessly across clinical care teams, and continuously refine our approach through data, feedback, and innovation. You can read more about our approach here.
Why Join Nourish
Help solve a massive problem - Over 100 million Americans face chronic conditions related to what they eat, but fewer than 1% of people eligible to see an RD actually engage with one. Nourish makes it easy and affordable to access high-quality medical nutrition therapy - 94% of our patients pay $0.
Flexible schedule - You can set your own hours and practice remotely. Nourish helps you build your practice by handling everything related to insurance and sending patients your way to build your caseload.
Competitive compensation - Our high session rates and generous benefits and bonuses show that we take care of our RDs and pride ourselves on being the best place in the country for an RD to practice.
Grow as a clinician - We care about your professional development and provide world-class training and career support. In this role, you will have the ability to develop long-term patient relationships and deliver lasting, life-changing results.
Great culture - Our goal is to be the best place in the country for an RD to practice. We advocate for RDs and want to "put RDs on the map". With Nourish, you will have the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the best RDs in the country.
Focus on patients, not paperwork - Our amazing administrative team supports all facets of your work including insurance billing, customer support, intake paperwork, insurance credentialing, and assisting you in coordinating care with other providers. This helps you focus on what you do best - working with patients.
Start seeing patients fast - on average, RDs joining Nourish start seeing patients in just two weeks, and our dedicated onboarding and credentialing teams will be with you every step of the way.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct weekly counseling sessions with patients using an evidence-based and patient-centric approach to care.
Demonstrate strong clinical and counseling skills, leading with empathy and kindness.

Serve patients with high standards of personal and professional integrity and ethics, with the ability to practice a high level of confidentiality.
Utilize extensive knowledge and experience in nutrition counseling approaches and modalities.
Complete session documentation (including clinical notes, patient communication, and care team follow-up messages) in a timely manner.

Job DescriptionDescription:
Tired of wellness spaces that ask you to check your values at the door?
So were we.
Our mission is to disrupt the medical model of nutrition, center food justice and body liberation, and create transformational impact for our clients, our providers, and our communities.
If you've been searching for a space to practice nutrition therapy without compromising who you are or what you believe-where
anti-diet
isn't a buzzword but a core principle-you may have just found it.

ABOUT OPEN SPACE CCW + WHY NUTRITION MATTERS HERE:
Open Space CCW was founded in 2018 with a vision of creating a safe, inclusive, and progressive space where people can move from merely surviving to truly thriving-for both our providers and our clients. We created a safe space for affirming, equity-rooted mental health care that never asks
anyone
to shrink or mask to belong. We are advocates, and practice from an anti-oppressive framework, which means we call out bullsh!t when we see it and work to disrupt systems that are harmful.
Open Space CCW was born from a simple but radical belief: healing happens when people feel safe to be fully themselves. We've spent years creating that safety in mental health care, and now we're expanding into nutrition-because we know food, bodies, and identity are inseparable.
We grew fast, faced challenges, rebuilt intentionally, and emerged with a clear direction: A multidisciplinary wellness collective where dietitians, therapists, body-workers, and other healers collaborate under one roof, united by our commitment to anti-oppressive, LGBTQIA+ affirming, HAES-informed care that never asks anyone to shrink-literally or figuratively.
Our approach to nutrition is rooted in:
Health at Every Size principles-because health is not determined by a number on a scale.
Food justice and cultural humility-recognizing that access, tradition, and identity shape how we nourish ourselves.
Body liberation-dismantling the systems that teach us our worth is tied to our size.
Trauma-informed care-understanding that many of our clients have been harmed by the medical system and diet culture.
If you believe nutrition counseling should center joy and intuition rather than restriction and shame-this is where you belong.

WHY THIS MODEL IS UNIQUE FOR DIETITIANS:
Most RDs in Pennsylvania are stuck choosing between two broken models:
The Clinical Hamster Wheel: See 25+ patients a day, follow standard protocols, celebrate weight loss, ignore the person behind the diagnosis.
Solo Practice Survival Mode: Figure out everything alone-billing, marketing, credentialing-while trying to unlearn everything you were taught about nutrition.
We've created something different:
1099 Independence + Business Mentorship + Values-Aligned Community
We're not interested in creating another nutrition practice. We're building a space where you can practice the kind of nutrition therapy you actually believe in, with the business support to make it sustainable.
This is your chance to build a practice that feels authentically yours, with colleagues who share your values and clients who want what you're offering. No more code-switching. No more compromising your beliefs for a paycheck.

A SPACE DESIGNED FOR RADICAL NUTRITION CARE:
If you wish to work fully remotely but live local to Pittsburgh, you'll have your own private office space for individual sessions, access to a tech-ready group room for workshops and classes, a full kitchen, and all the practical support you need-from secure parking to 24/7 building access.
But more importantly, you'll be surrounded (both in-person and virtually) by providers who understand that health isn't a moral obligation, that all bodies deserve respect, and that nutrition care should be liberating, not restrictive.
Every provider here is vetted for values alignment. Your clients will never encounter diet culture messaging in our waiting room. Your colleagues won't undermine your work by promoting weight stigma.
You're safe here. Your clients are safe here. And together, we're changing what nutrition care and wellness looks like.
--
SCOPE OF WORK:
Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) using HAES principles and anti-oppressive practices with LGBTQIA+ individuals, BIPOC communities, people in larger bodies, eating disorder recovery, and other marginalized identities within your scope of practice.
Complete thorough nutrition assessments that go beyond BMI and lab values to understand the whole person and their relationship with food.
Collaborate with our therapy team for clients needing integrated care around food, body image, and mental health.
Maintain HIPAA-compliant documentation in our EHR system within 48 hours of sessions.
Offer telehealth services to increase accessibility.
Stay current with HAES research and anti-diet approaches through continuing education.
Participate in multidisciplinary case consultations when appropriate for comprehensive client care.
Requirements:
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
LDN in Pennsylvania required; RDN strongly preferred.
Must be eligible for insurance credentialing and willing to participate in commercial insurance networks.
HAES-informed practice is non-negotiable. We want providers who understand that weight is not a reliable indicator of health and who can support clients in intuitive eating and body acceptance.
Competency working with LGBTQIA+ clients is essential. This includes understanding how gender dysphoria intersects with food and body image, supporting transition-related nutrition needs, and creating affirming care for queer and trans bodies.
Experience with eating disorder recovery strongly preferred, or genuine interest in developing these skills with our support.
Trauma-informed approach. Recognizing that many clients have been harmed by diet culture and medical weight stigma, and how trauma impacts eating and nutrition.
Cultural humility. Understanding how racism, classism, and other systemic oppressions impact food access and body image.
Ready to see 15-25 clients per week in a sustainable way that honors both your needs and theirs.
Interested in building something lasting. We're looking for providers who want to grow with us for at least a year.
We especially value experience with:
Eating disorder recovery at all stages
LGBTQIA+ nutrition needs (hormone therapy considerations, gender-affirming care)
Cultural nutrition practices and food traditions
Chronic illness management without weight focus
Family nutrition therapy (especially with diet culture recovery)
Food insecurity and accessibility issues
Neurodivergent eating patterns and sensory considerations
Body liberation and fat acceptance principles

APPLICATION PROCESS:
Ready to practice nutrition therapy that actually aligns with your values? Let's build a practice where anti-diet isn't just acceptable-it's celebrated and the baseline.
Interested candidates can submit the following:
A cover letter expressing why you feel you would be a good fit for our practice and our model! We want to understand why you want to be part of this team and serve the communities we work with, and how you want to practice nutrition therapy in an anti-oppressive framework.
Your resume or CV.
Attention to detail check: Start your cover letter with "Ready to nourish true wellness" so we know you're serious about this specific opportunity.
(Yep, that's our way to sort out the people who blanket send their resume to anyone and everywhere, from the folks who are truly interested in this position!)
