This position has the responsibility for planning, coordinating and managing activities related to the design and documentation associated with new transmission & distribution substations, and the modification and expansion of existing distribution substations. Supervises the work activities of personnel assigned to the Substation Design unit. Ensures projects undertaken are in accordance with Eversource Design and Application Standards and ensures that the design work of the Substation Design Unit is in compliance with safety, budget and schedule requirements.
Essential Functions:
* Supervises, coaches, develops and reviews performance of Design and Drafting staff. Supervises, assigns, prioritizes and directs work performed by at least 2 FTE Design and/or Drafting staff.
* Oversees outside CAD Consultant to implement automated CAD features for improved drawings and drawing development.
* Advances the latest available CAD capabilities across operating companies.
* Develops detailed electrical design criteria for specific design projects in conjunction with substation project engineering.
* Oversees the application of established design standards, procedures and criteria. Approves all drawings and other documentation prepared by the Substation Design unit for assigned projects. Approves purchase requisitions for materials and equipment required for assigned projects. Approves design solutions to operating and maintenance problems.
* Supervises the preparation of or prepares detailed schedules and man-day estimates for assigned substation design projects.
* Supervises the development of conceptual designs for potential substation projects.
* Supervises the development of designs and drawings for additions or modifications to existing transmission, bulk supply and distribution substations.
* Supervises the development of design sketches of yard and equipment layouts, wiring and interconnection diagrams, groundings, and other schemes for substation additions or modifications.
* Ensures that technical calculations in support of substation designs are accurate and complete.
* Supervises the writing of technical specifications involving substation project materials and equipment.
* Supervises the preparation of purchase requisitions for materials and equipment required for substation projects.
* Provides direction to and evaluates the performance of outside contractors and vendors providing substation equipment and design services.
* Works with other system areas in the planning, project management, coordination and monitoring of schedule and equipment requirements.
* Ensures technical data is made available to appropriate personnel for feasibility studies involving new or modified substation projects.
* Actively supports storm and/or emergency restoration assignments.
* Manages the drawing field mark-ups and as built process for minimizing back log.
* Supervise and support document control, form control and drawing production process and have working familiarity with the ADEPT Library.

Perform all types of work involved in the construction, maintenance, rebuild, removal, operation, testing and inspection of energized or de-energized generation, transmission and distribution facilities. Assist in responding to emergency call-outs on station trouble and coordinating prompt restoration of service to customers as required. Job Description
Station Electrician C-A:
What You'll Do:
Work on energized equipment up to 260 volts. After six months in classification, employee shall assist in work on conductors and equipment energized at voltages above 750 volts with direct supervision or assistance of personnel in higher classification
Select proper prints and/or drawings for various work and have a basic understanding of each.
Use voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, insulation meggers and other test equipment associated with station work.
Assist in disassembling and reassembling, inspecting, maintenance, and repairing of station transformers, circuit breakers, portable substations, rotating machinery, network protectors and transformers, air ducts and heat exchangers; install and maintain station batteries; replace nitrogen bottles and air filters.
Assist in station work such as installing conduit, pipe, cable and wire; use hand lines to pass tools and materials; dig and backfill trenches; remove and spread stone; uncrate equipment and material; install and remove portable substation fences, barriers and safety signs; paint structures and equipment; climb station structures.
Use various kinds of tapes, insulating materials, protective and insulating paints and varnishes, and understand proper application of each.
Assist in making visual inspections such as check lights, heaters, circuit breaker counters, oil levels, and bus connections; read gauges such as voltmeters, ammeters, hydrometers, pressure and level gauges; apply start-run-stop tests on emergency generators, water and sump pumps and fire engine motors. Report abnormal conditions.
Replace lamps, switches, duplex outlets, dry cells; install and maintain signal and communication systems
Assist in various tests involving oil samples, connecting and operating portable and stationary oil handling equipment. Assist in electrical tests, TTR, Doble, core megger and resistance for transformer testing, etc.
Assist in station switching including use of radio communication and/or direct instruction from higher classification, assist in checking equipment clearances and making de-energized tests, place grounds as directed.
Knowledge and proficiency in steel and aerial lift rescue.
Maintain records and prepare and submit reports as required.
Attend and participate in training and assist in the training of other employees as assigned.
Use and operate various company vehicles, specialized equipment, hand and power tools.
Operate company vehicles, cranes, aerial lifts and specialized equipment. Perform duties incidental to the operation of such equipment
Use hand and power tools; operate portable generators, blowers and pumps; inspect and store personal protective equipment.
Knowledge and use of various knots used in station work.
Perform similar or less skilled work as assigned.
Assist employees of equal or higher classification; direct the work of employees assigned to assist.
Become familiar with the Company's safety rules and practices and in the application of resuscitation and First Aid as presented in the Company's Safety Manual.
Perform duties in accordance with the Company's safety rules and operating regulations and practices.

This position will be ON-SITE at the FE Akron Headquarters on White Pond Drive, Akron, OH. There will be travel involved in North Canton and Wadsworth, OH., area.

The Building Mechanic participates in the inspection, maintenance, mechanical, electrical, and other building/facility systems at various locations as needed. There is a primary focus on safety and teamwork in getting the work completed. The main objective is to ensure building assets are maintained to achieve maximum useful life and safe operation.
This position may be called upon to have a greater participation with electrical and HVAC systems, but still be able to perform all responsibilities.
For Building Mechanic A:
It is preferred that this position have working knowledge of electrical systems including generators, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, building switchgear, building automation systems, power distribution units, motor control centers and circuitry. A certified electrician would be preferred.
Knowledge of UPS, Generators, 208V and 480V.
The position reports to the Supervisor, Facility Operations.
Responsibilities include:
Participates in all Company safety programs and practices and promotes safe work methods in all activities. Maintains a high level of safety commitment throughout day-to-day functions.
Demonstrates knowledge of the Company's safety philosophy, its principles, and rules which govern safe working practices and the ability to work and direct work safely and in full compliance with these philosophies, principles, and rules.
Performs work assignments including breakdown maintenance, corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, room set-ups, service requests, jurisdictional inspections, among other things.
Coordinates and administers preventative and corrective maintenance program at FE facilities.
Works independently or with others to perform HVAC maintenance, reviews contractor corrective maintenance proposals and performs corrective maintenance when appropriate.
Works with management to modify or revise HVAC maintenance program and procedures to optimize program effectiveness. Develops and monitors performance measures.
Monitors daily operation of energy management systems at specified facilities, including after hours, holidays, and weekends when on call
Installs electrical wiring and equipment of lighting, power supply and complex control systems
Performs regular scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment. This normally consists of changing out filters, replacing drive belts, and inspection of components.
Monitors HVAC system performance, recommends system changes, assists in developing specifications and evaluating options for HVAC projects.
Working knowledge of large HVAC systems, including chillers, AHU's, CRAC units and commercial humidification systems.
Installs and removes mobile and permanent partitions, frames openings and hangs doors and sash: installs woodwork trim and moldings; installs and repairs floor tiles, carpet tiles, acoustical and plastic ceiling; and repairs concrete floors and sidewalks.
Ensure change management protocols are followed.
Must be able to work shift work and overtime as assigned; must be able to work scheduled weekends shifts. Position may require overnight stays as needed.
Respond to support operational and emergency situations 24/7.
An employee hired at the Building Mechanic A level will be expected to perform all of the above responsibilities with more proficiency, and in a more independent manner. Further, the Building Mechanic A level employee will be assigned additional responsibilities related to those listed above.
Qualifications for a Building Mechanic A include:
High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
Trade School or Apprenticeship Program preferred.
Minimum five (5) years' work experience as an electrician, trade certifications preferred.
Possess CFC, National Electric Code, and Fork Truck Certifications preferred.
Journeyman Electrician License and Electrical Licenses preferred.
Must have a valid driver's license and be willing and able to travel within the regional service territory.
Must be able to read and work from blueprints.
Must be physically capable of lifting up to 75 pounds and carrying up to 50 pounds.
