Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Cat Scan Technologist, Per Diem Hospital. In this role, the successful candidate, under the direction of a Radiologist, the CT Technologist operates Computed Tomography equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images. Performs procedures according to established standards and practices without constant supervision of technical detail. Job Responsibilities: * Operates CT imaging equipment to produce quality images as ordered according to department protocols. Produces quality images for interpretation by the Radiologist. * Performs other duties as assigned * Instructs and supervises Radiography students in clinical practicum. Works with Radiography students in completing exams. Performs QA image review with students. * Assists in the care and maintenance of the facilities, equipment, and supplies while abiding by WUH infection control policy and procedure. Maintains proper environment of care. Follows WUH infection control policy and procedure. Initiates Standard Precautions when required. * Accurate utilization of the Radiology Information Systems. Verifies proper exam was completed, amount of contrast (if used) is correct, and proper code is attached. Arrives and completes procedures in a timely fashion. * Proper and timely utilization of the PACs system allowing for Radiologist interpretation. Verifies all images are transferred to PACs in a timely matter. * Practices effective radiation protection in utilizing appropriate shielding devices when possible. Monitors exposure and follows department policy regarding pregnant patients. * Prepares patient for exam regarding patient preparation, positioning/immobilization, and instructions throughout. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify, you must have a Technical Diploma Graduate of AMA Approved School of Radiology or Imaging Services, required. New York State Radiologic Technologist license, required. American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required. Advanced Certification in CT required within one (1) year of hire or transfer required. New York State Department of Health IV Contrast Injection Certification, (Part 89-Section 89. 40) required within one (1) year of hire or transfer. 1 - 2 years In Radiologic Technology, required. Strong communication (both written and oral), problem solving, and customer service skills, required. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, required. Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Cat Scan Technologist/IV Cert, Manhattan - Cancer Center. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing medically prescribed radiographic and CT procedures. Utilizes computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-section images of patients internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues. Accurately interpret a physicians scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the CT scan equipment and position the patient to capture the appropriate images. Job Responsibilities: * Performs filming of optimum quality and archives the data. Uses efficient methods and completes examinations assigned in reasonable amount of time. Performs transmission and/or segmentation for transmission to PACS in a complete and proper anatomic display. Generates high quality hard copies of images when necessary. Maintains cleanliness of radiographic area. Prepares equipment and supplies in advance for future exams. Makes alterations in work schedule for STAT and emergency cases. Is able to alter work patterns to satisfy the needs of the patient and medical staff. Is able to recognize a medical emergency and notifies nurse, PA and/or MD immediately. Demonstrates knowledge of proper radiation safety procedures and incorporates them into the performance of all radiographic procedures. Uses gonadal shielding on all patients whenever possible. Restricts beam to the smallest possible area, ensuring the least possible exposure to the patient without compromising quality. Eliminates the possibility of accidental exposures to x-ray by all persons. Maintains radiation detection badges and rings appropriately and returns them as required. Assist in the technical orientation of cross-trained technologist and instructs them in complex or difficult procedures. * Demonstrates knowledge of the hospital and radiology information systems as they relate to radiology. Correctly chooses appropriate patient information from HIS/RIS system in accordance with HIPPA regulations. Demonstrates ability to access patient information such as appointment times, type of exam, and patient reports. Is knowledgeable of the total cycle of RIS patient tracking. Follows departmental policy of documenting begin, complete and departure times, when appropriate, in the RIS. Has working knowledge of film library functions. Demonstrates knowledge of the HIS and is able to access patient data for verification of orders. Competent in scheduling exams in RIS from the order entry queue and/or demonstrates the ability to modify exams when necessary. * Demonstrates skill in setup and administration of IV contrast media. Explains CT or IR procedure and process of administration of contrast to patient and engages radiologist and/or LIP as appropriate per policy. Makes sure contrast media questionnaire has been filled out by patient. Assesses any existing intravenous line or selects appropriate venipuncture site and attaches injector tubing to patients intravenous line. Loads and programs contrast media power injector according to established departmental procedures and assigns appropriate injection rates based on access and protocol. Ensures that all emergency equipment is readily available. Injects intravenous contrast using the power injector and monitors patient for signs of contrast media reaction and/or evidence of extravasation. Notifies radiologist or LIP in case of reaction or extravasation. * Performs other duties as assigned. * Independently implements patient procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. Explains the procedure and equipment to the patient clearly. Provides for patient comfort before, during and after procedure, and maintains an ongoing rapport with the patient throughout the procedure to ease any anxiety the patient may have. Provides for patient privacy at all times. Positions patient and radiographic equipment appropriate to the body part(s) to be radiographed and adjust equipment settings accordingly to insure maximum information is obtained. Scouts the patient and is able to determine what images of a cross-sectional nature are to be taken. Demonstrates knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy to include solid understanding of slices and the relationship between the images produced by these slices and the parts of the body. Is able to determine, based on knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, when he/she has taken enough slices to complete the procedure. Is able to recognize pathology or abnormalities in images produced from the CT scan (i.e.-tumors, masses, and lesions) in their cross-sectional aspects. Images this area above and below the mass; measures the abnormality as determined by protocol. Solves problems that arise during patient examinations using both technical knowledge and innovation. Alters examination to maximize information in response to patients condition. Confers with other technologists concerning previous approaches utilized. Assists physicians as needed during the course of radiographic CT procedures, as needed. Determines how to display and re-format data as needed. * Effectively assesses patients information and status, and follows appropriate procedure(s) accordingly. Uses standard procedures to identify the correct patient. Checks patients wristband by name, unit, and room number to ensure patients ID matches examination requisition. OR Calls patient by last name, asking patient to confirm their identity by stating their first name. Introduces self to the patient. Reviews patients requisition and understands the type of exam required by each requisition and confers with medical staff regarding clarification when necessary. Seeks information or asks for assistance from supervisor regarding difficult or questionable results. Follows accepted radiologic procedures and uses medical information to determine type of protocol required for radiographic examination. Consults policy and procedure manuals and/or other reference materials as necessary to ensure actions conform to established protocols. Follows special instructions indicated on radiographic requisition. Recognizes need for and follows isolation precautions. * Demonstrates skill in equipment set-up, utilization and proper maintenance procedure. Performs visual and manual quality control checks of CT/IR equipment including monitors used for routine dictation/reading of clinical images.Demonstrates effective computer skills in his/her ability to use the CT scanner. Is familiar with the separate programs and variables for each machine in order to operate it properly. Utilizes CT computer skills and techniques to correct software errors that may cause computer malfunctions. Performs various test procedures to evaluate operation of CT equipment such as: phantom images, air calibrations etc. Uses imaging and peripheral equipment, in a safe and productive manner in accordance with prescribed hospital, departmental and manufacturers procedures. Observes and reports any malfunctioning of the equipment and notifies appropriate persons in case of missing or damaged equipment. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a High School Diploma/GED Certificate from accredited School of Radiologic Technology New York State license Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) and with IV Contrast Certification within 3 months of employment. Required Licenses: Radiologic Tech Lic - NYS, Am Registry Of Radiologic Tech Preferred Qualifications: Minimum Two years experience in CT. Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a CT Technologist - Bellevue Hospital. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing medically prescribed radiographic and CT procedures. Utilizes computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-section images of patients internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues. Accurately interpret a physicians scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the CT scan equipment and position the patient to capture the appropriate images. Job Responsibilities: * Demonstrates knowledge of the hospital and radiology information systems as they relate to radiology. * Correctly chooses appropriate patient information from HIS/RIS system in accordance with HIPPA regulations. * Demonstrates ability to access patient information such as appointment times, type of exam, and patient reports. Is knowledgeable of the total cycle of RIS patient tracking. * Follows departmental policy of documenting begin, complete and departure times, when appropriate, in the RIS. * Has working knowledge of film library functions. * Demonstrates knowledge of the HIS and is able to access patient data for verification of orders. * Competent in scheduling exams in RIS from the order entry queue and/or demonstrates the ability to modify exams when necessary. * Demonstrates skill in setup and administration of IV contrast media. * Explains CT or IR procedure and process of administration of contrast to patient and engages radiologist and/or LIP as appropriate per policy. * Makes sure contrast media questionnaire has been filled out by patient. * Assesses any existing intravenous line or selects appropriate venipuncture site and attaches injector tubing to patients intravenous line. * Loads and programs contrast media power injector according to established departmental procedures and assigns appropriate injection rates based on access and protocol. * Ensures that all emergency equipment is readily available. Injects intravenous contrast using the power injector and monitors patient for signs of contrast media reaction and/or evidence of extravasation. * Notifies radiologist or LIP in case of reaction or extravasation. * Demonstrates skill in equipment set-up, utilization and proper maintenance procedure. Performs visual and manual quality control checks of CT/IR equipment including monitors used for routine dictation/reading of clinical images. * Demonstrates effective computer skills in his/her ability to use the CT scanner. * Is familiar with the separate programs and variables for each machine in order to operate it properly. * Utilizes CT computer skills and techniques to correct software errors that may cause computer malfunctions. * Performs various test procedures to evaluate operation of CT equipment such as: phantom images, air calibrations etc. * Uses imaging and peripheral equipment, in a safe and productive manner in accordance with prescribed hospital, departmental and manufacturers procedures. * Observes and reports any malfunctioning of the equipment and notifies appropriate persons in case of missing or damaged equipment. * Performs filming of optimum quality and archives the data. * Uses efficient methods and completes examinations assigned in reasonable amount of time. * Performs transmission and/or segmentation for transmission to PACS in a complete and proper anatomic display. * Generates high quality hard copies of images when necessary. * Maintains cleanliness of radiographic area. Job Responsibilities: * Expediter reviews patient prescription and safety forms. * Obtains consents if necessary. * Correctly chooses appropriate patient information from HIS/RIS system in accordance with HIPAA regulations. * Demonstrates ability to access patient information such as appointment times, type of exam, and patient reports. * Is knowledgeable of the total cycle of RIS patient tracking. * Follows departmental policy of documenting begin, complete and departure times, when appropriate, in the RIS. * Has working knowledge of film library functions. * Demonstrates knowledge of the HIS and is able to access patient data for verification of orders * Competent in scheduling exams in RIS from the order entry queue and/or demonstrates the ability to modify exams when necessary. * Maintains department logbooks in an orderly manner, records machine performance data as directed, all according to established departmental procedures. * Demonstrates knowledge of the hospital and radiology information systems as they relate to radiology. * Uses standard procedures to identify the correct patient. * Checks patient's wristband by name, unit, and room number to ensure patients ID matches examination requisition OR calls patient by last name, asking patient to confirm their identity by stating their first name. * Introduces self to the patient. Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a MRI Technologist - Outpatient Radiology - Lake Success. In this role, the successful candidate, under the direction of a Radiologist, operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images and performs procedures according to established standards and practices, including patient identification, safety standards and completion of required forms before allowing a patient to leave zone area. Job Responsibilities: * Accurately utilizes the PACS (Picture Archival System) to make images available to the radiologist for interpretation with minimum number of exceptions. * Enters proper exam coding in the Radiology Information System and arrives and completes exams in a timely fashion. * Assists in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies. Reports any equipment problems or malfunctions to the supervisor in a timely fashion. * Instructs and supervises radiography students in clinical practicum. Works with the radiography student to perform exams as well as performing individual image evaluation. * Performs other duties as assigned * Operates MRI equipment to take diagnostic images of specific body areas/parts as ordered. Produces diagnostic images for interpretation by the radiologist. * Prepares and positions/or immobilizes patients properly and provides clear and concise instructions regarding the procedure before beginning an exam. Ensures quality review of the images fall within the guidelines of departmental SOP (Standard operating protocol). * Practices safety protocols with regard to patient and employee safety when in range of magnetic field. Ensures MRI safety protocols are practiced. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Technical Diploma Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiology or Imaging Services. New York State Radiologic Technologist License or New York State Radiologic Technologist Temp Permit. American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Strong communication (both written and oral), problem solving, and customer service skills. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor s Degree In Radiology Program or related Health field. 1 - 2 years MRI technologist or training experience.
