Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
In this role, the successful candidate This position performs all routine and complicated laboratory procedures including specimen processing and handling, testing of patient specimens, calculating and reporting of results, performance of quality control procedures, operation and maintenance of instruments and equipment.
Job Responsibilities:
* Performs laboratory tests and procedures.
* Follows approved policies and procedures in performing specific methodologies and instrument operations and follows approved policies for proper recording and reporting of results.
* Performs and documents procedures required to ensure the quality of testing being performed. Responsibility includes quality control, instrument preventative maintenance, function checks and calibration.
* Follow approved guidelines when troubleshooting and carry out appropriate course of action when control values and/or instrument functions checks are invalid or inconsistent.
* Review patient results prior to release to the electronic medical record. Correlate final results with known facts concerning patient history/previous values and recognize the validity of results and identify/reject those results that are illogical.
* Communicate critical values and barriers to testing to medical staff according to protocol. Document according to laboratory policy.
* Complete assigned proficiency and competency assessments
* Maintain sufficient testing supplies in work area, including ordering if directed by lead.
* Consistently generate and review pending logs
* Enters Patient Safety Intelligence (PSI) as required.
* Participates in the training of new medical technologists/residents at the direction of seniors and lead technologists.
* Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a NYSDOH Licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a program registered by the NYS Department of Education or Bachelor's Degree in the major of biology, chemistry or physical sciences from an accredited college or university or education requirement grandfathered by the NYSOP.
One year experience in a clinical laboratory (completion of an internship at a qualified institution is acceptable).
NYS License.
1 year (completion of an internship at a qualified institution is acceptable) Effective Interpersonal and Communication skills.
Required Licenses: CliniclLabTechnolgst-NYSPermit, Clinical Lab Technologist-NYS
Preferred Qualifications:
ASCP Certified. Excellent computer knowledge/skill.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing and assessing complex clinical laboratory tests on specimens for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in a timely manner
Job Responsibilities:
* Laboratory set-up: Preparation of laboratory area, equipment and instrument for testing.
* Prepares and sets-up equipment, testing compounds and work area.
* Calibrates, conducts performance checks, records and maintains laboratory instruments and equipment according to laboratory policy.
* Ensures the appropriate and adequate supply of materials is available at all times.
* Recognizes and corrects instrument malfunction. Keeps work area neat and clean.
* Specimen Collection: Synthesizing appropriate patient interaction and identification.
* Collects specimen to be tested. Ensures the test tray is clean and properly supplied. Checks beeper prior to going on floors.
* Greets patient in a courteous manner by introducing self and calling the patient by name. If a baby, use T.L.C. If a child, obtain his or her confidence.
* Parents or guardians are never asked to leave the patients room. Ensure the name on the transmittal matches patients wristband.
* Completes the verification before procedure is started. Uses isolation techniques according to Infection Control guidelines.
* Uses clean disposable gloves for each patient. Completes all capillary blood collection in a timely manner and communicates with the laboratory before returning to the laboratory.
* Specimen preparation and testing. Prepares specimens to be tested: identifies and prepares accurately, specimens which have been collected by phlebotomy team, nurses, or physicians in accordance with laboratory procedures. Clinical Testing: Performs manual and automated tests on blood and body fluids.
* Checks sample to ensure correct identification and matches with accompanying labels to ensure accuracy of recording and reporting results. Completes all scheduled and stat tests in a timely manner. Adheres to laboratorys safety policies; operates and troubleshoots instruments according to established procedures.
* Quality Control: Monitors testing equipment, solutions and work environment by following laboratory Quality Control procedures, ensuring the overall reliability of test results. * Communicates with Manufacturers service department dispatch office when unable to rectify inoperable instruments.
* Follows manufacturers recommended preventive maintenance schedule.
* Interpretation and recording of test results: Exhibits sound judgment in handling and reporting test results.
* Makes determination of normal and abnormal test values accurately. Reports information promptly via telephone, Laboratory and or Hospital Information Systems. Examines prepared stained smears and demonstrates knowledge and good judgment in interpreting morphology.
* Reviews preliminary diagnosis and consults appropriate reference sources to assist in interpretation.
* Reviews abnormal cell morphology with respective supervisors. Seeks information or ask assistance from supervisor when necessary regarding difficult or questionable results; is prepared to report on results of initial investigation and discuss possible causes and solution. Decides necessity for additional testing to confirm findings.
* Planning and time utilization: Efficiency in adapting to changes in order to facilitate adequate staffing and effective demonstration in identifying and acting on priorities in a timely manner. Demonstrates alertness and adaptability to changes in schedule and work conditions; responds appropriately.
* Recognizes and deals with priorities. Uses time effectively by completing all assign tasks in a timely manner Utilizes spare time to review stored collection of abnormal slides, textbooks, periodicals, tech samples, safety videos etc to enhance theoretical knowledge and technical skills.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
* NYSDOH Licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
* Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a program registered by the NYS Department of Education or Bachelor's Degree in the major of biology, chemistry or physical sciences from an accredited college or university.
* One year experience in a clinical laboratory (completion of an internship at a qualified institution is acceptable).
* 8 year's experience as a Medical Technologist in the appropriate discipline.
* Effective Interpersonal Communication skills required.

NCA/ASCP certification

In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for performing and assessing complex clinical laboratory procedures on specimens for diagnostic purposes in a timely manner.
Job Responsibilities:
* Laboratory set-up: Preparation of laboratory area, Containers and reagents for staining. Prepares and sets-up containers, solutions, chemicals and work area. Conducts performance checks, records and maintains laboratory equipment according to laboratory policy. Ensures the appropriate and adequate supply of materials is available at all times. Recognizes and corrects reagents malfunction. Keeps work area neat and clean.
* Performs other duties as assigned including proper use of LIS; PowerPath.
* Planning and time utilization: Efficiency in adapting to changes in order to facilitate adequate staffing and effective demonstration in identifying and acting on priorities in a timely manner. Demonstrates alertness and adaptability to changes in schedule and work conditions; responds appropriately. Recognizes and deals with priorities. Uses time effectively by completing all assign tasks in a timely manner. Utilizes spare time to accession specimens and file slides.
* Quality Control: Monitors testing containers, solutions and work environment by following laboratory Quality Control procedures, ensuring the overall reliability of stains. Cleans testing containers regularly. Inspect reagents, solution, and chemicals to ensure that they are of high quality and record lot numbers according to guidelines. Assure reagents are not used beyond expiration date. Run and interprets control value to ensure standardization within deviation guidelines. Attempts to troubleshoot malfunctioning reagents and report to pathologists. Maintains all daily, weekly and monthly logs.
* Specimen preparation and testing. Prepares specimens to be tested: Identifies and prepares accurately specimens which have been collected by cytopathologists or other physicians in accordance with laboratory procedures. Checks samples and slides to ensure correct identification and matches with accompanying labels. Completes all scheduled and stat tests in a timely manner. Adheres to laboratorys safety policies; Hand-coverslips and labels all slides. Performs all staining protocols including differential stains and modified rapid Pap stain.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a minimum of six months experience in most laboratory disciplines. NYSDOH Licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory histotechnician or clinical laboratory technician. An Associates Degree from a relevant course of study as defined by NYS clinical laboratory licensing requirements. A high school degree will only be accepted if the individual has the designated experience defined by NYSDOH and has obtained their NYS license through the grand-parenting pathway defined by NYSDOH.
Required Licenses: Certified Histotechnician, Clinical Lab Technician-NYS
Preferred Qualifications:
Must hold license granted by the New York State Department of Education as a clinical laboratory technologist; ASCPHT/HTL certification is not required but is preferred

* HARVESTING AND SLIDE PREPARATION. Harvests specimens and prepares slides for G-band metaphase analysis and/or FISH. Harvests at appropriate time according to laboratory protocols. * STAINING AND MICROSCOPIC ANALYSISStains slides and performs microscopic analysis. Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a program registered by the NYS Department of Education or Bachelor's degree in the major of biology, chemistry or physical sciences from an accredited college or university or at least five (5) years of experience in a similar laboratory.
* NYS technologist license from the Office of the Professions, State Education Department, State of New York.
* ASCP Certification required.
* Effective oral, written, communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

In this role, the successful candidate performs cytological laboratory procedures pursuant to established and approved protocols which require limited exercise of independent judgment. Duties are performed under the supervision of a licensed cytotechnologist, laboratory supervisor, and director of a cytopathology laboratory.
Job Responsibilities:
* Reconciles cytology specimens to ensure proper testing is performed. Accurately opens, labels, numbers, verifies patient identity and enters information from the test requisition into Powerpath for each specimen received.
* Grosses and prepares smears, cytospins and cell blocks.
* Accurately enters gross description in Tamtron patient report.
* Processes cytology specimens including the fine needle aspirations, non-gynecological smears, and gynecological monolayers using ThinPrep Pap test technique.
* Properly operates the ThinPrep image Processor and.
* Performs all staining protocols: Papanicolaou stain, differential stain, modified rapid Pap stain.
* Prepares specimens for all type of special stains. Slide coverslipping and labeling

In this role, the successful candidate Under close supervision, installs, inspects, calibrates, and performs preventive maintenance on General Biomedical -electrical, electronic and pneumatic patient care, diagnostic, monitoring and therapeutic instrumentation throughout the Medical Center. Troubleshoots and repairs a variety of instruments such as: Infusion, Syringe, Enteral, PCA Pumps, SCDs, Pacemakers, Telemetry, Multi-parameter patient Monitors, Hypothermia Units, Lab equipment etc. General Care Areas include but is not limited to Central Services, Labs, Physical/Occupational Therapy, and Dialysis.
Job Responsibilities:
* Carries out minor repairs of patient medical equipment, accessories and cables in the Medical Center in an efficient manner. Troubleshoots minor problems in medical equipment and renders equipment functional fixing or replacing appropriate component or circuit board based on the problem; may be required to provide service at the point of use. Services and repairs cables, transducers and accessories. Verifies proper operation of all device functions, prior to returning the device to service. If the service was rendered at point of use, has user department staff verify current operation. Records all work done on appropriate forms. Informs and consults with the Director on unusual problems or specific hazards.

* Determines whether equipment is covered by warranty or service contract when repairs are needed. Notifies the Operations Manager of equipment under warranty or contract by providing the manufacturer, model, serial number, and the description of the problem with the equipment.
* Performs preventative maintenance (PM) and calibration on above mentioned equipment at intety Tals prescribed by manufacturers' and departmental policies. Locates equipment that is due for PM, performs functional testing, and calibration: works on fixed equipment such as patient monitors in the room where it is installed.
