The firm became "O'Melveny & Myers" when Chief Justice of California Louis Wescott Myers joined the firm after retiring from the Supreme Court of California in 1926.


What is now the oldest law firm in Los Angeles, the firm would undergo nine name changes—always including the name O’Melveny—before becoming O’Melveny & Myers in 1939.
