Responsibilities Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director/Manager of Perioperative Services, the Clinical Coordinator, RN provides care of patients within the PACU and ASU Departments. This position assumes clinical responsibility for the specialty by providing teaching, clinical supervision and evaluation of other personnel assigned to the area. This position is also responsible for duties outlined in the staff registered nurse job description: professional nursing care and related assistance to patients, providing direction to licensed vocational nurses and non-professional nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited nursing program. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE Two years recent clinical experience, preferably on the unit, which the Registered Nurse takes Clinical Coordinator responsibilities. RECQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse. Certified through the American Heart Association BLS. ACLS, PALS or ENPC required within 6 months of hire. Registered Nurse Certification in at least one specialty required. Example: highly preferred: ie., ARON , CNOR, SGNA, or ASPAN. Valid Drivers' license and reliable transportation necessary as travel between campuses may be required. REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES Demonstrated proficiency in PACU/ASU required. Prior Clinical Coordinator experience preferred. Responsibilities Under the general supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Nursing, the Clinical Coordinator RN of the Skilled Nursing Unit fulfills the role of the Director of Nursing (DON). The Clinical Coordinator, RN provides oversight during the assigned shift for the clinical and non-clinical staff in the administering of excellent patient care and customer service. This position assumes clinical responsibility for the specialty by providing orientation, teaching, clinical supervision and evaluation of personnel assigned to the area. The Clinical Coordinator, RN / DON supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the objectives of the hospital and according to state guidelines. Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited Nursing program. BSN preferred. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE Two years clinical experience, preferably in long term acute or skilled nursing care. One year experience as a Clinical Coordinator / Charge Nurse preferred. REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Current licensure in Texas as a registered Nurse. American Heart Association BLS required. The staff nurse provides direction to licensed vocational nurses and non-professional nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. The staff nurse supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the objectives of the hospital. Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited nursing program. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE One year acute care clinical nursing experience OR equivalent EMT/Paramedic experience required. Experience in critical care preferred. REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse or Graduate Nurse. Certified in Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association. Advance Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advance Life Support (or ENPC) required within 6 months of employment. TNCC within 18 months of employment. Employees must remain current in these certifications.
