Allied Mineral Products is a leading manufacturer of monolithic refractories worldwide, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and energetic student to participate in our co-op/internship program during the Summer of 2026. As an Intern - Research and Technology, you will collaborate with R&T Engineers or the Analytical Services Supervisor on a research or analytical methods project. The intern will also assist Ceramic Technicians with sample preparation and testing to support ongoing laboratory operations. Key Duties and Responsibilities: * Execute assigned projects under the guidance of an R&T Engineer or the Analytical Services Supervisor. * Assist Ceramic Technicians with batching, casting, firing, and testing of laboratory samples. * Prepare samples for XRF, XRD, or SEM analysis and perform these analyses as directed. * Support engineers and technicians with various tasks as needed to ensure smooth workflow. Qualifications: * Must be at least Sophomore status. * Must have a minimum 2.5 Cumulative GPA (student will be required to provide a current transcript). * Must be available to work at least 40 hours per week for at least 10 weeks. * Must be enrolled in a Bachelors' degree program studying material science, geology, mineralogy or similar discipline. * Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. * Dependable and punctual with strong organizational and time management skills. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). * Must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to follow instructions and work independently or in a team setting. The position is designed to support demand and supply planning, inventory distribution and supply chain KPI analysis. While working in this role the individual will be expected to communicate effectively in person, through email and over the phone and will interact with plants, distribution centers, logistics partners, suppliers and other internal stakeholders. These activities will provide exposure to all functional departments within Oatey and give the individual a thorough overview of the supply chain function. Expectations & Accountabilities… Support administrative tasks including, but not limited to collecting and analyzing data for inventory reports, backorder reports, fill reports and other key drivers of performance. The Intern will assist with the evaluation of product design and performance including hands-on installation and testing. Mechanical Engineering Intern Position Responsibilities: Assist Mechanical engineers with the preparation of project planning and documentation. Support continuous improvement projects Participate in product design projects including preparation of project forms and documentation, design specification and implementation. Assists the senior design engineers in the provision of technical support to sales, manufacturing, purchasing, quality and customer service. Use computer aided drafting systems to prepare drawings and documentation related to specific engineering projects. Create solid computer models to predict material behavior in injection molds and other machines. Create bills of materials, material specifications and processes specific to a project. Work with cross functional teams in the development of new products. Other duties as assigned. What you'll need to be successful… Education and Certification: Enrolled in an undergraduate engineering program with completion of at least four (4) semesters. CAD Software - Solid Modeling in Solidworks Strong ability to understand and help modify existing mechanical designs and products. Excellent analysis skills.
